DLSS Momentum Continues: 50 Released and Upcoming DLSS 3 Games, Over 250 DLSS Games and Creative Apps Available Now

Maybe they played on CRT in the past? But that would be ages ago, though. These handled various resolutions just fine, one didn't have to use "native" and could still get very good image quality without upscaling in the modern sense of that word.
Absolutely they are. I'd say we've been through 3 unique phases of displays;

  1. CRT - You change the output resolution to tune performance, no detrimental effects
  2. Fixed pixel (no device scaling) - You pick a native resolution of display somewhat inline with your GPU power, sacrafices fidelity when GPU has reserves, inflexible
  3. Fixed pixel (abundant device scaling e.g DLSS/render resolution) - Pick a high native resolution, upscale to tune performance, very flexible

Some people are still very much stuck at 2 or even 1.

I was playing Alan Wake 2 on crt at 720p the other day, looked great. Free DLSS :D and at around 85fps looked like 144 on my oled. Free frame gen :D
Too bad they ditched the tech instead of evolving it right as we got to thin and flat CRTs. Then we had big regression into LCD for gaming and just now OLED is catching up.

A proper implementation of DLSS will also be quite good.

Always, but that swings back exactly to what I said about publishers releasing broken things and dropping support early (rarely any diss updates even if it cost very little time and money to update all later), whilst charging more and more for it.

Those that don' knowt, probably also don't care. A lot of fuss is made by those that care and know.

Those that don't know usually what don't use nor care about things like RT (unless it's by default enabled). As in, people with no working eyes;)

Yeh, like you say it was just on the cusp of flat crts. Basically everything was a downgrade except size and weight. We lost motion clarity at equivalent fps, resolution scaling and blacks.
Oled is great and fixed the blacks (although I still feel that the crt near black looks more natural).
12yrs I've been on OLED and ready for the next tech :D still chasing the dragon :D
I'm really interested what they can do with crt emulation filters.

Gamers have made it financially worthwhile to spend as little time as possible on optimisation by constantly buying every unfinished piece of slop on day 1 for full price.

That's very much my point - things can and should be done better but AAA industry stopped caring as people threw monies at them no matter what. That's changing now - media gives new games good reviews but they sell badly and with such bloated budgets they can't recover monies even if they sell few million copies.

I went from 1080p plasma to 4k LCD and regretted it. Goodbye blacks.
Made even worse that I sold my plasma to my mate for £100. It was 3-4 years old. And it only died about 6 months ago. 10 years for a plasma TV is outstanding.
Had the LG CX since launch after dumping my LCD.

/OT/ not even trying :p My Pioneer 'kuro' 428xd which I've had from close to launch in 2006 is still going strong (touch wood!). Will only be replacing it when it dies.

One more.

It will be a nice show to see TI talking with others in an actual meaningful way, not just raging against this or that or taking down other people's video.

Or maybe not since he's apparently running from an actual debate with other devs. Smoke and mirrors and perhaps no "DLSS killer TAA solution" just yet.

I knew TI was shady from the get go and behaviour like this just amplifies that. The fact that so many on forums and online seem to be on their wagon just because they are anti UE5 or whatever is just mind boggling.

Again, not a SINGLE shred of evidence showcasing his magical engine which fixes everything wrong with UE, not one, yet he's taking donations and stuff. How have so many people been scammed by this guy and not realised they have been bent over is beyond mystical, and all I did was apply basic common sense....

Most haters have no common sense.

When I watched him originally I thought he could be interesting but since his first video it's just been "Things are bad, here's an obscure way to maybe make it better if you squint and anyone who doesn't like it isn't a dev".

Apparently TI's lawyer is sending letters (at least one so far) of cease and desist. I wonder if Remedy, Warhorse or other studios whose videos he's using to make his own content and "spread the message" should do the same :))
