An Elder Scrolls: Oblivion thead

Did you play star field? Strangely I'm getting the exact same feeling playing oblivion as I did playing star field, which is that I'm just bored as hell. Nothing in it is particularly fun.

Bethesda games used to be good because of the open world and rpg aspects being better than any competition, but honestly I don't think they ever thought "is this mission fun" when designing their games.

I get that this is a remaster not a remake/retelling, but the fact that star field was just as dull which came out I think last year says it all.

I was worried about the next elder scrolls game after star field and I'm worried again after this.

Zeldas latest 2 games are just so much more fun than these games. I think it's because zelda is technically just essentially a load of puzzles to be solved, and so rewarding when you figure them out, while Bethesda games are hand held walking missions with a bit of combat

Yep though for Starfield I stuck it out just to see how it all ended. Then when it kinda just restarts for a new game plus I gave it 5 minutes then uninstalled it. I think I only stuck Starfield out due to the space setting and it being (seemingly) something fresh. But once you get into the meat of it you realise just how hollow it really is.

I think the problem in general is a Bethesda one. They have made great games in the past but they are seemingly stuck in that time loop and no matter what they do they just use the same formula and it's sadly played out these days.

I too am worried about the new Elder Scrolls just being more of the same old same old. They need a vast improvment in how they do things especially with A.I and game mechanics in general.

As a case in point, I am playing Kingdom Come Deliverance II (well, once the save game bug is fixed) and it's night and day compared with Bethesda's work. It's a truly immersive world and I would like to see more RPG's adopt things like this. Sure it has it's problems but overall I can't knock it and I felt none of that with the Oblivion remaster.

Never played any Zelda game but your right about the Bethesda games being hand held walking missions with a bit of combat. And the combat follows the time honored way of just having npc's run at you constantly in a straight line even if you are firing arrows in their faces. :(

Zelda BOTW was the most empty and bland open world game I've ever played. So much so that I've bought it to play on the new Switch just to confirm it again but in higher res. That series is completely dead to me until they can go back and make them interesting again.
However, this really isn't the thread to talk about how much I hate open world Ubisoft Zelda.

gamepass updated it and now i have no frame gen or fsr options.

Type in console

Altar.DLSS.Enabled 1
Altar.DLSS.FG.Enabled 1
Altar.DLSS.Quality 4 (for DLSS quality)

And fixed with much improved performance for me, I went from 50-70 range to 85-110 same settings.

There's settings for FSR too, start typing Altar.FSR in console and the commands show up.

ah thank you might give that a try later, it seems to be running decent on native at the moment 80 odd fps out doors every thing ultra cept for shadows on high and software lumens on low, just some random minor stutter :)

I own the deluxe (remastered version) edition. But no DLC, no horse armour, no Wizards Tower, Fighters Hold, or Vile Lair. Where is it? Oh and the Shivering Isles quest is also missing. Level 3 and out of the dungeon...It is like I own the vanilla version from 2006...

I found the shivering isles quest. I've never played it before but I was exploring the world and noticed a purple portal in the distance on an island. So I swam over and found it was a portal to the shivering isles and the quest was added to my quest log, though it won't let me enter yet

No. Because Zelda sucks compared to Henry and crew.

Just read through the first couple of pages of this thread while extremely jet lagged and almost teared up :o:cry:

People incredulous that you’d need to spend a grand to run this game well, hoping it takes advantage of dual core and 1680x1050 resolutions, what an incredible time for PC gaming the mid 2000’s were

Now you need to spend over triple that to scrape by, they don't know how good they had it.

i was dreading coming out the sewer after my experience of a geforce 5 on the original, thankfully my pc is a lot more capable now and i was pleasantly surprised, if any one remembers the geforce 5900xt it was terrible at dx9 stuff, the oldblivion mod saved my ass till i got a ati x800gto :)

Do these settings reset after restarting the game?

I think it's just the frame gen command you have to type each time, will check when I'm back atk.

I also accidentally found out you can use Xess upscaling with DLSS frame gen.

Apparently you can put them in the engine.ini and they'll stick every time.

I done that but when going into the filters and adjusting the sliders nothing was happening so I don’t think it’s actually working.

Not sure what is going on with your end but definitely working here for me with the gamepass version:

Make sure you restart the game if you enabled it via the overlay first.

RTX HDR absolutely transforms the visuals as expected given HDR vs sdr but more so than usual in this game because with sdr, black level is still raised and looks washed out, rtx hdr sorts this out.

Hardware RT + RTX HDR + OLED + 240HZ + 4k DLSS Transformer model = the way it's meant to be played
