What film did you watch last night?

I know what you did last summer. Very Mehhhhhhh. I have never seen the original but there are clearly a few characters in this, from that. Maybe it's more enjoyable if you have seen the original. 5/10

Athena 8.5/10. Gave this a go based on the recommendations in here. Absolutely frenetic from start to finish with some long action sequences that I genuinely don't know how they managed to pull off or even get permission to try because it all appears to be in-camera effects. I remember spotting the cuts in Extraction when that was the big deal but I don't think I caught any in this. Mental.

Going to watch this tonight, surprised I've never heard of it before.
It's amazing, honestly, what a hidden gem!
Pride and Glory (2008) is decent too, massive cast, ignore the lower imdb rating. We Own The Night is the better of the 2, but I'd definitely recommend Pride and Glory.
Just look up the cast in Pride and Glory, it's big. Just like We Own The Night. Both are worth giving a go for the cast alone!

I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025) - 6/10

A nostalgia heavy teen slasher flick which was entertaining and enjoyable enough, if not particularly scary, shocking or surprising.

It never quite had the same hook as other film series in the genre and the initial premise was pretty weak, but the style was good and it became more entertaining as the body count increased.

Its attempt to include the modern and old cast felt a little clumsy and the pacing suffered, but the cast were likeable and the kills were gory.

Malignant

A woman who suffers tragic loss has disturbing ‘night terrors’.

Such an odd film. I thought it was going to be quite serious, oh how wrong I was. After the camp intro it’s (mostly) played with a straight face by the actors and writing etc. - with some unpleasant yet fleeting domestic violence. But from there the editing, aesthetics and score are all increasingly hammy… to the point where it felt like a ‘ladybird first horror film’ at times :o

So there I was thinking it was pretty terrible, but then it unashamedly turned the schlock dial up to the max and ended up being enjoyable and funny :D

I’m really not sure who this was supposed to be aimed at, but I’m glad they had fun with it. Hard to recommend… straddles the awkward line between terrible and a fun time.

A very caveated 6/10

I'm waiting to watch this.
I even have the 2 originals ready to rewatch - I know they're ****, but it's the good type of turn your brain off, she's going to trip and fall and get caught silliness that we expect from an old teen slasher.
They're nothing on the original Scream though, but as with the modern Scream's, I wanted to watch the new one to see if they'd ruined it.
This sounds like it'll be fine for a 1 time turn your brain off viewing.

Hey AI, write me a sequel to Megan that riffs of Terminator 2 and Mission Impossible.

Megan 2.0 4/10

Watched this the other night as well, they certainly took a different direction to the original thats for sure and for the worst, found it reasonably entertaining overall but like you allude to its a bit of a paint by numbers action flick.

Lethal Weapon (1987)
Lethal Weapon (1987)

Watched it soo long ago that watching it again it was like a never seen before movie.

What a great film, love Mel and Danny in this. An absolute epitome of an 80s movie.

The 4k restoration was absolutely spot on too.

9/10

I'm the opposite, I've seen it so many times it's ridiculous. Cinema, VHS rentals, owning on VHS, DVD and Blu-ray and now UHD. The 4k remaster is, as you say, excellent. Would've preferred more legacy extras on the disk and the ones that are there don't really add up to much, especially with Mel Gibson's absence from the Dick Donner tribute.

We actually watched the director's cut last night as I've only seen it once before. Not sure which version I prefer, as the extra scenes don't slowdown the pace or add anything game changing, other than more time with the characters.

Either way, it still remains one of my favourite films and I'll probably watch it again at Christmas.

10/10

Yep, sheer perfection, I also think 2 and 3 are. 2 Is probably my overall favourite, adding Joe to it, just made it god tier and so funny

I love this deleted scene from 1:

The Bike Riders - I’m on the fence so 7/10

Hard to explain but I was definitely left wanting more. Excellently shot, Jodi Comer(?) and Tom Hardy were fantastic but.. the story lacked depth, you weren’t really rooting for anyone, the main character didn’t have much to him..

I waited so patiently for this film and was thoroughly let down. Nothing really happened did it, absolute waste of a massive cast and good characters, of which did nothing. Such a shame, it could have been amazing :( I tried really hard to find anything good about it. But it was just, I dunno, 'numb'?

Riff Raff.

This is one of those films that had just enough to keep me intrigued, but never delivers. How you manage to take a cast like this and produce such a steaming pile of dog turd is a mystery.

3/10, don't waste your time.

Can confirm, watched this a few months ago and was a waste of time. The only scenes that were interesting to me in the early going were the Bill Murray and Pete Davidson ones. It really did feel like a waste of a cast. A lot of films would kill to have a cast like this.

Technically tonights movie but I’m sitting here bored to tears hoping it’ll finish soon so thought I’d post..

Twisters - Garbage 2/10

The original ‘96 version was grounded in some form of reality with an original story and likeable, interesting characters but this just wasn’t it. The leads lack the charisma and chemistry of Costner and Hunt. The whole thing is just silly with some bad CGI thrown in.

I Know What You Did Last Summer 1997
6/10
Still amusing for what it was for it's time, nostalgia wise. Now for the sequel, then I'm ready for the 2025 version - no I will not be watching that dodgy straight to VHS 3rd one

Having seen SMG in the recent Dexter prequel series, it's a that shame she's gone down the worryingly thin and frail route, if she'd kept her curves she'd still be hot, what a waste.

Sovereign 7.5/10

Based on a true story that I wasn't familiar with and a fringe nutjob movement mostly in the US that I wasn't familiar with. Nick Offerman was great and the film flowed really well towards the incident. Just don't expect a lot of action, it's really a slow burn drama about extremism, indoctrination and mental illness.
