**AMD 5700 X3D Owners CLub**

What's the framerate you're looking to achieve and are you particularly sensitive to 1% lows.

I did 5900x to 5700x3d with a 3080 at 1440p 165hz. For me it was worth it but I wouldn't recommend it for someone who is happy with hitting an average of 60fps. I wanted higher 1% lows, 5700x3ds were dirt cheap and I had someone who could do with the extra power of the 5900x over their 3600 so it made sense.
I've got a 144hz monitor but obviously I'm not expecting to hit that @4k. I'm okay with 60-90fps.

Well it had to happen one day! :(

AMD has reportedly retired the Ryzen 7 5700X3D Socket AM4 desktop processor with 3D V-Cache technology. The 8-core/16-thread chip was launched in January 2024 as a lower priced alternative to the 5800X3D, which AMD retired later that year in October 2024. Towards the end of 2024, the 5700X3D was among the bestselling processors. Its retirement sees AMD finally draw the curtains on the Socket AM4 platform. The 5800X3D and 5700X3D, while based on the older "Zen 3" microarchitecture and only supporting the older DDR4 memory standard, offered gaming performance rivaling 12th Gen Core i9-12900K "Alder Lake" or "Zen 4" Ryzen 7600 processors with newer DDR5 memory, giving those on the 8-year-old platform a cost-effective upgrade path.

My usb ports on my current x370 taichi have partially failed so I am now in the annoying position of choosing between a newer AM4 board or jump to AM5 as a B650 is pretty much the same money (new) but obviously have the cost of CPU, RAM on top of that

The 5700x3D is still such a fantastic chip something that actually gives me a real world improvement. I am assuming is at least 7700/9700x money at that point.

Currently leaning towards a nice x570 model on the MM as a 1-2 year stop gap until AM6 is about fully. I do gain PCIE 4.0 this route too

Shame, absolute price / performance monster of a chip

Yeah, great CPUs and if you managed to grab a 5700X3D for around £120 from hotukdeals, then that was just silly value for money!
Debating looking at the B550 options too as still a jump over the X370 in most areas (to be expected) and a good cost saving

MSI MPG Gaming Plus can be had for £95 new

I've just bitten on one of these, given the price they are going for, upgrading from a 2700x.

Given I typically play at 1920x1200, with everything maxed out / RT on etc with a RTX 4060ti 8GB and a 60hz monitor with vsync, and typically a small number of single player games, I haven't really been encountering much in the way of CPU bottlenecks that bothered me to date.

This will be pretty much my first CPU upgrade ever where it wasn't driven by gaming framerate getting to the point of being painfully unplayable. I guess I no longer have the time to tweak, test or spend time rebuilding PCs and I'd rather things just work for as long as possible with the least effort possible. My view is it will allow me to stay on my current AM4 platform for much longer, perhaps with a later move from 16GB to 32GB RAM if I find myself playing something that calls for it.
Well, eventually got around to upgrading. Most noticeable improvement from the 2700x is shader compiling for various games. I can't say the 2700x was particularly holding me back, but hopefully the 5700x3d will give a little future proofing and keep the current rig alive for a good while longer.

Edit: With hindsight, it seems last November was a very good time to buy one, even if I only just got around to fitting it now. The prices have rather shifted since then.

Indeed, a year ago the 5700x3d could be had for £120 from overseas so it was a bargain chip.

At the current price I would not recommend getting one. Better to use the funds for a platform upgrade.

Still happy with mine and the 6900xt combo....I had hoped it was a stop gap until AM6 but that release date seems to keep stretching so we'll just have to see what happens.

I'm coming to this conclusion myself. Not seeing many from credible sources at palatable prices, so a full platform upgrade may be under unless a bargain appears. Wish I'd not procrastinated.
