***Hogwarts Legacy - RPG***

Just loaded this up again.

I'm running at 3440x1440, 12700K @ 5/4, 4090, fully maxed out everything, including RT, and it runs great for me.

No micro stutter, great frametime.

I do set unlimited shader cache in NVCP, maybe that's why I don't seem to suffer stutter like other folks.

Something I've never got to the bottom of with this game is how on different PCs the "preparing shaders"/loading time, after the first time, differs so much - on some systems it takes like 20 seconds, on others a full minute, others anywhere from 2 minutes to 5-10 minutes. If you are on a system with low physical RAM it skips it entirely but you get mad stutters when playing.

Recently loaded it up on a 5800X3D/4070 non super RIG and it took less than a minute, I'd say 30-40 seconds? 32gb of RAM if that helps.

Had no notable stutters during the intro hour or so but RT was disabled by default, I've yet to find out how much it impacts things.

Shader compilation was a lot faster with a 5700X3d and 32GB RAM than it was with a 2700x and 16GB RAM. Also far less stuttery in game.

Do you mean even on like for like PCs?

Because faster CPUs can compile shaders faster than slower CPUs

I bought this a while back and enjoyed it at first but then got stuck as the combat got more difficult. I am not that great at fast combat games anyway but what I found most difficult was playing it on m&kb there was a lot on the left hand and I can't use all the keys there without looking down at my hand and that of course means looking away from the screen.

Is anyone playing successfully using keyboard or is it better to use a controller?

Much, much better with a controller.
