The Outer Worlds 2

what is the gist of the story?

A mission in space, something happens that cause some rifts to open. You wake 10 years later.

In the time you were asleep, 2 mega Corporations merge and have declare war on another totalitarian faction.

You are going planet to planet whilst this war is occurring, but events may be being manipulated by someone else.

It's Fallouty.

Anyone else getting poor performance with Ray Tracing turned on?

I'm experiencing quite a bit of stuttering / low FPS on a 5080 at 1440p.

Running great on my 12700K/4090 @ 3440x1440.

Maintains 100fps (monitor limit) effortlessly, maxed out plus FG.

Everyone. Digital foundry has a good optimised guide.

Ray tracing is never off btw. It’s software ‘off’ and hardware ‘on’.

I had one small stuttery area, but otherwise fine.

Ahh I was referring to the hardware RT option in the game settings.

Performance seems to tank with this switched on for me.

Glad I levelled up as much as possible before more or less finishing the first area. It would have been a tough fight otherwise. There are just so many paths and options one can take, it’s very impressive.

Glad I took lockpicking, there are so many locked doors. Engineering is now proving useful too.

Yeah, I have suffered FOMO with having to leave so many locks unpicked!

I am usually an inveterate min-maxer, but for this game it just feels right to roll with the punches and take the consequences of the character I created.

What level did you end up as by the end of the first area, incidentally? I'm still only level 2.

Ticked over to 10 in Vox station. Didn’t need to heal, so could have done it lower. I had also done most of the ‘optional’ prep though. I do love how it all just organically comes together and rewards exploration. Everything I did felt worthwhile.

No artifacts, sharp as a pin in Paint, it's just the image hoster messing it up.

There is a ton of detail being reconstructed on the vegetation and other elements which is basically organised noise with some aberrations in places, fringing on various parts of the image, etc. looks like DLSS 4 Performance mode being used. I don't think that is from the image compression.

Frame gen is also on looking at the frame-time graph. Artefacts for all! :D

Didn't realise this was on GP, might try it, first one was bang average.

You have gamepass?
