What Virtual Reality games are you playing?

I absolutely do NOT know why the heck I am attracted to and play these kind of games. I spend most of my time hiding, Alien Isolation in the locker when there was no need, or playing only in short bursts. I am really fortunate that no one is recording me whilst playing. I totally panic when being chased by a creature to the point of messing up my controls and then getting whacked. In the game Trenches you have to be quiet, to the point of holding your breath, as the sounds are picked up by the creature. "HA" is what I say, breathing..................what about primal shrieks of fear, heck even my wife hears me at the other end of the house.

I've 'noped' out of the headset many times when playing Alien Isolation in VR. The latest 'Grandmother' mod even adds motion tracked hands.

:cry::cry:

I am laughing at you guys but only because I understand completely :D I have started Alien Isolation so many times in VR and have never even got as far as meeting the Alien. I am a gibbering, wreck after about 10 minutes. And every noise makes my heart go ninety. I think the longest I have lasted is about 30 minutes, I get so tense that I have to stop.

I genuinely think I would have a heart attack if I actually met the Alien. :p

ooooooooo what? i missed this, i am gonna have to get it.
i loved alien isolation in vr (in a pants filling way) however it really pushed my VR legs, so much so i chose not to play it much waiting for a better implmentation in VR - i have still not played beyond the free preorder DLC set on the nostromo (best pre order bonus in any game ever i reckon!)

I have just used this, forgetting that I had reinstalled windows a while back and not done the symbolic link tha tis required for Windows 11 and AI......

ran it with admin rights and followed the instructions. It moved AI and created a working sym link.

You install the Mother Mod, then the Grandmother mod, and you can then run a shader update to improve the visuals, which is part of the Grandmother mod. It requires getting hold of the shader decompiler and compiler exes.

Got you. I forgot that the GM mod makes visual differences, you are right. Just tried it out, using the Quest controllers, nice to have control within the game.

I'll now get on with the visual side of it, remember doing that some time back.

Thanks

@Ravenger This is what I'm noting now......

Shader patching now happens during map loading, the separate patcher AIShadersPatcher is not needed anymore.
Patching is done multithreaded, limiting the impact on loading time.== What if I already patched AIShaders before in 0.3.1 vers. .....
does not matter.

I am starting to understand the change occurred from 0.31v of GM mod onwards.

This sounds very interesting but also complicated.. Hopefully I can get around to trying this one..

I just finished** Alien rogue incursion which was pretty good. Although I found it super annoying that you can't really explore the areas much because they just keep spawning and spawning.. I think it's my fault I bumped up a notch on the difficulity..

** Although I couldn't find the last capacitor towards the end of the game as it disappeared.. So I ended up watching it on youtube to the end instead.. Shame as I missed quite a bit of the game.. But his settings must've been the lowest as the AI was really lame and easy..

With the light brigade. Any of you guys struggling to move forward? Push my stick forward and its going left or right. It's really really bad , almost unplayable!!

Other games, no problem

Have you tried it using SteamVR and teleport, not smooth, in the settings..? Then use the left stick for the motion controls..?

Seems janky though.

I think its because im waving my left hand around lol seems #i may have solved it, it turns when I move my wrist not the stick left/right

There have been some decent games out, though it's the modding space which seems to have some of the best content. Skyrim VR, and Fallout 4 VR are still king of the VR open world games (You can even play Fallout London in VR now). Also mods for Halo, Far Cry, Portal 2, and even Crysis have been released.

Notable native VR games include Behemoth, Alien Rogue Incursion, Arken Age, and Metro: Awakening. Though these also have native quest ports.

There are some decent recent native games including Batman: Arkham Shadow, and indie games like Quantum Void.

Thanks, lots there for me to check out!

I have been playing "Trenches VR". For the cost it has to be strongly considered is you are into jump scare / tension type games.
I enjoy its first world war trench settings, and that the creature you face is not able to be killed, just slowed down or hidden from. Kinda seems familiar to Alien Isolation.

With chatting with the single dev, as well as help when running in VDXR from the VD dev, he has been most responsive in fixing and adding to the game. Only one minor quibble, noted it to him, when selecting particles for an effect it does not retain those settings for me when the game is closed.

However......

I could do with finding another genre, or grow a pair...............as if that is going to happen.

I've had Alien: Rogue Incursion VR sitting in my wishlist for a while, but the "mixed" reviews are making me hesitant. I think I've previously considered Alien Isolation, but worried about the faff to get it on VR. I would have though Rogue Incursion the better choice being newer and native for VR?

From what I understand, Alien Isolation is based on the first "Alien" film. Whilst Alien Rogue Incursion, roughly, is based more on Aliens.
So, for a very tense single xenomorph experience, kinda faithful to the Alien Film, then AI is the one to go for.
Nothing wrong with either I suppose, depends what you would like to play.
I have not played much with RI.
There are YT guides etc that can help with the installation of AI.
You will note a link above that I made about the symbolic link that seems to be needed when launching it under Windows 11, that automates, somewhat that process.

There is a flatscreen to VR Discord group....

That has a AI section...

instructions and guides etc can be gained from reading and seeing the pinned post.
