******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

The UI is bad but the performance makes it feel very rough also.

The ability to make a good UI seems to be a lost art, even at Microsoft.
Its a very subjective thing. the inventory UI is fine in my eyes and so is the crafting ui as well. The starmap is pretty good and infact similar to starfield i believe.

I jumped on for 30 minutes this morning, flew from Obituary to RAB sight in my M80, did some dog fighting and made short work of it with 2x size 4 and 2x size 5 deadbolts. Parked my ship away from the turrets, eva'd into the base and took out the bad guys. Yes the loot table was missing, no boxes had spawned so grabbed a few bits off of the npc's. Floated back to my ship and flew back to Obituary.

Seamless, not a single loading screen in sight. Everything physicalised, everything detailed. Great fun!

Yesterday, ran up some stairs and fell through the planet

This is Star Citizen and I love it!

I tried looting stuff last night and half of my gear just vanished...
I looted loads on onyx and in distro and dnothing was lost!

Check out last weeks SCL . There is a known issue with inventory where it can timeout and get u in a badd state with your inventory.

Best thing is not to interact with the inventory and moving things around etc so fast because it ques all your inventory movement to the backend and if one or two items fail, the que is fuckedd

The problems I see and hear about from mates are the same things being repeated. Poor server performance and the current flight model are high up the list. FPS combat has been a problem for ages, and it's mainly down to desync. Also, spending an easy hour preparing for an org event, only to be unplayable for some players or to lose everything due to bugs, is really disheartening.

The direction the game is currently taking doesn't seem great either, particularly with the removal of the sandbox elements. I'm happy with dungeon/raid-style instanced content, but there also needs to be plenty of open places (Jumptown etc.) where you run into people. Currently, you can't loot players, ships, cargo, or components. You don't lose gear (ignoring bugs), so there's no real point in crafting or buying more than one of anything. The armour side of things I'm mostly happy with, transmog is a big part of the game for me. I want cool armour and to look how I want.

I was at Bar Citizen down in manchester the other week—the main one that CIG organised, in the same city as their main office and, I'm sorry to say, it was a bit crap beyond meeting up with mates. The staff member running it (I'm forgetting her name) was good, but I got the impression there wasn't any meaningful support from the company. Now yes, there was no actual convention this year, the bar events are meant to be more of a get together but... ehh. The junior devs who did show up (we only knew they were devs because we'd met most of them before) just sat at a table in the back, chilling. None of the higher-ups showed up, not even to give a quick thank-you speech before disappearing to avoid all the questions. I did get a cool decoration item code, though, and I had some good chats with other fans and mates who were there.

After backing in 2013 and struggling to ever really get into the game, despite a number of attempts, I started playing in Dec 25 and I'm now hooked.
I'm playing a lot in VR, which is already better than most VR games.
I'm just starting to work through ASD and try8ng tomfind and the less buggy Bounty Hunter missions, with a sprinkle of hauling.
Is there a OCUK org that's active?

I believe that @humbug and @jonneymendoza have an org.

I'm a member of a small group of guys, who play most nights. We're always welcoming to new members.

Thanks for all the pre-alpha testing. Your time and money are well spent. Lol.

Most of the ideas are good and it would be loads of fun it things actually worked properly. But even the basic stuff is pretty glitchy where as I don't get any of that playing the (very similar) game loops in Elite.

The only other game I've seen which can handle large scale, combined arms battles is Planetside 2. It's even older than SC, but no one else has really managed to pull it off.

Our org isn't very active right now, this one is, i suggest you apply here, very good org, great people.

Edit: are you in the Pagan org? That would be great.....

No problem mate, it might be quiet tonight but I'll be on tomorrow with the others

Not Pagan, no. Magikal. We're small and would like to grow but struggling to get traction with it.

Thanks humbug.
I'll do that.

Some nice chill low fly hooning, how he got away with how close he got to some of these rocks i'll never know, he must have got his wing tips wet on a couple of occasions too, great skill threading the needle.

I genuinely love this game, I'm so glad I was bored and tried a free fly a few years ago. There's just nothing else quite like it. I had so much fun running Onyx sites with some new players last night.
