The Pascal GTX 1080 Ti Owners Thread

Hi Snips, long time no talk. I would avoid the FE model if you want to run higher clocks and avoid throttling. I only brought mine to watercool. I think the custom cards are supposed to be right around the corner so it's definitely worth waiting.

Hello Mate, long time indeed! Hope all is well! Yeah, that's the conclusion I came too. I'll wait for the MSI models and see what funds I have available at the time.

To get on the Roll of Honour all you have to do is post a pic with your user name on it of your GTX 1080 Ti.

Nice - you got the EK blocks? Mine runs nice and cool at 2Ghz. Not really tried to push it much further yet.
Haven't got the block yet, unfortunately! A little testing then I'll decide which to go for, assuming there is stock about of course.

I have EK stuff generally atm so glad to hear it's running well. I was told I wouldn't be getting it until the 30th so I wasn't prepared lol

And already at 83C you have lost 84Mhz from your max boost. If your card was say at 29C it would be boosting to 2059Mhz so you are losing 4.25% of its maximum performance.

Which is why if I was buying one it would have to a decent cooler - zotac or pallit or a waterblock or hybrid.

Mine was a very impulse buy on release in the outlets so I did consider (for 0.5 second) how much more the AIB cards may boost over FE and wondered if I'd suffer buyers remorse. But whilst probably much quieter they dont boost that much more in fps at 4k. That's how I weighed it up. They will be the noisiest cards. Good for the liquid cooling people.

And people that couldnt wait. Of course who wouldnt prefer an AIB card all being equal. I'd love a hybrid version - they will be the top boosting cards@retail without 3rd party cooling but I couldnt wait. I really couldnt. The price Is still a bit steep but I spent £600 on a 980ti Hybrid and I couldnt remember the pain from then. Two years of being stupid is OK. I am really pleased with it.

Some bench scores added to the OP. Will add other benches when they have more scores,

I'm not convinced that the 1080Ti VRAM is capable of much of an overclock before error correction kicks in.

Luxmark crashes (as a part of realbench) over +125 on the memory and when I pushed the clocks further in Heaven lastnight, I got a lower score with +125 core and +250 memory than I did +100 core and +100 memory.

Yeah error correction is a pain. I see lots of people saying "i can run my memory at x, wow" when if they bothered benchmarking properly they would find that their results are slower than at a lower overclock. And esp since any memory overclock means you hit the power limit quicker and have less boost on your core. It takes a while to find the magic balance between the best boost and the memory not error correcting and staying under the power limit.
