I'm still mulling over the CPU choices at the moment, as I am trying to see what the temp differences are between the 7900 and 7920X with and without deliding and also how far they can be pushed.

My 7900x does get hot and will do 4.8ghz at under 1.25v. I suspect I could get 5ghz under 1.3v but even my custom loop won't keep it cold enough.

Even at 4.8ghz it's over 90c under heavy stress.

Been making a delid tool the past two days (should be finished tonight hopefully) as no derbauer tool stock until mid of October by the earliest.

That's really interesting thank you, will you be testing the delidding over the weekend then? As Id be interesting to know how your temps are effect before and after a de-lid. Also was your CPU a Retail or OEM chip?

I've been thinking about the 7920X because the die is a little bit bigger than 7900X, so I guess in theory it may run a little cooler due to more surface area but just looking at all the info at the moment.

It's the retail chip. I heard from OC3D's review that the bigger chips did run a tad cooler than the 7900x so I'd guess it may make a difference.

Yes, hopefully I will get it delidded Sunday or monday depending if I get it finished tonight or not.

I'll post some results sun/Monday, (fingers crossed) everything goes well.

Your making a delid tool. Make it well. One mm too far your losing memory channels as smd's get ragged off.

Why do you even want to run prolonged stress tests just use the pc normally.

Ive only just had time to get this unboxed it since it arrived yesterday, holy moley there is a lot of stuff in the box.

I think this is going to work well without the RGB's, they board it's self is very heavy which is very different to my X99 Strix.

Obligatory desk and MB shot :o:D

Tool complete and 7900x delidded perfectly, no damage and all caps in place. Phew.

I was expecting it to be tougher to remove but came off a lot easier than I was expecting. No stress on the tool anyway.

Now to apply some liquid metal and see what it can do. :D
