Awesome pic.

Well I am 50 odd hours in and still only on chapter 3.
So much I still have yet to do, see and take part in. Highlight today, killed some very bad people in white costumes with dead eye... was epic.

My only gripe is the satchel upgrade progression.. that is a grind.

The game is a masterpiece and I am so glad I spent a year ignoring everything RDR2. I won’t be on GTAO for a while I think as this is my new time sink.

I mean, in the real world they didn't know the name of every bad guy back then, they don't now either. If today a robbery occurs it gets X amount of work done on it, if a string of robberies of the same type occur it gets more resources put on it. In the wild west the same would happen in that if a bunch of rustlers were reported in a given area someone might offer a reward which increases over time. The game has to tread a line between knowing it's you and putting a bounty on "unknown rider" who happens to be you. If you keep robbing banks it makes sense they send more people and raise the reward on whoever is behind it, it's just that you're also playing the bad guy so you know the bounty is on you.

For me that is one of the mechanics that works fine though it could be better written that you are lets say a taller stocky guy with a scar on your left cheek and the locals are looking for a bandit with that description. Then your in game friends could refer to you by whatever name they come up with this bandit on the posters. So it's lazily done but it makes sense that bounties get increased on you even if they don't know who you are. Would also be cool to implement it as a description/rough picture on the poster and now and then you hear that you've been captured but they gunned down some dude who just looked like you.

In the real wild west many of them were never even caught, crime was rampant because it was easy to get away with.

I wasn't talking about being caught, but the idea of a bounty being put out on a guy who looks vaguely like you would be common, them finding you, less so, then randomly shooting other people that looked like you, probably more common than catching the real guy which would actually be pretty funny random world event to come across.

Actually "real" West was pretty lawful and peaceful. Is the movies plus couple of incidents that lasted mere minutes that making such depiction. (usually these took place at the South not "Mid West")
Even compared to today, the Mid West (aka "Wild West") at the end of 19th century was a peaceful land full of German & Swedish migrants getting farmlands and building their holdings and not those rowdy Americans depicted in movies. Over 7 million Germans alone colonized those areas representing more than 80% of the total population of those areas and 1 million Swedes.

And we got their commercialized and Americanized folklore back in the form of Christmas Trees, Santa Claus etc.

That because regardless if USA pulled a cultural victory ("Civilization" reference), history cannot be changed. Hell the above is even in the book, required for the citizenship exams of 2007.

Same, I’m on chapter 3 nearing chapter 4 now. Just been amazing game so far.

Really is a game where you can just do what ever you fancy and there is a lot of customisations. I find myself doing a few missions then something else crops up and I end up doing that instead, and it continues. End up opening the map and end up miles away from where I started without realising

My only grip atm is the fishing speed with controller. Purchased a wireless mini keyboard to fish instead :p. As you can change reel speed. Without it have to do literally 1000 thumb stick rotations to reel a fish in.

This is just the start I suspect. Only unlocked a selection of equipment and still like 40 left.

On the road....
Unexpected day off today, so I'm wasting it roaming around online, one thing I've found is online people tend to leave you alone unlike GTA V where you seem to be popped on sight, although I do find the temptation to start a firefight irresistible (and usually fatal to me! :D )

Anybody found any good optimization / tweaking guides? - Its running a lot better for me now but there's always room for improvement.

It happens from time to time, I was doing a trade delivery yesterday (roughly $200 worth) and 5 russian players jumped me, killed me and took my delivery and went and cashed it in themselves. Doesnt happen very often and to be fair, what more would you expect from russian gamers :)

Can anyone recommend which settings have very little impact upon the visuals but a significant effect upon performance? I'm currently using a combination of high and ultra, with an average of 57fps. I'd like to try and squeeze a few more though, if possible.

How far have you got? I just need a panther to unlock the last one, the one that keeps spawning when I lay bait is a one star. Chapter 3 as well.

Not really started as I can never get a 3 star anything. Took me 2 hours to get 3 rabbits the other night and that was not for want of trying. Do you use bait?

On the launcher, click settings and then click the RDR2 icon and scroll to the bottom of the settings page

Oh wow..... I was a bit light with 50 hours.... 89 :eek::eek:

Totally agree. I can sit here and before I know it 2 hours has passed....

Just a quick one, if you get the required ingredients for upgraded satchels, does they increase the amount you carry in them?

Currently can be out in the wilderness for some time and it gets a bit tedious when you’re told you can’t carry anymore items as your satchel is full.
