Wonder if although they will stop issuing work, they would keep accepting results for a few hours/days? If so, we could cache up before they turn off, if needed. Hmmm.

Think it's 14 days at the mo before they call time on a WU. Would make sense if....who am I kidding it's Berkeley after all we're dealing with.

Your getting confused with seti Boinc. WUs on that are time limited.

Classic WUs are not time expired, how elss can we end up with massive caches for some members? However since seti@home has said it will close, and it appears we are doing this for the No#1 teams status rather than validity of the WUs, I can see the cut off being rather abrupt. Simply put, don't stash the result WUs, as every last one might count for our total.

Time to join the party !!!
Having sold my house, I am temp living at my mothers so cant have much running, but I have just started seti classic on my prescot p4 3.2 (using driver to get two running). I might get away with hidding my slient dothan in a wardrobe and accidently leaving my laptop on in the conservatory.

Fortunately I have allready got broadband and the wireless network sorted, so have to see what I can get away with :D

It depends if they turn off the ability to download WUs and the ability to upload completed WUs at the same time. If they do then obviously we're stuffed with that idea.

Good to see you around here shady, you must have some fond memories of SETI :D

I can't find any decent team listing stats sites, seti at work only seems to show team info, though I may well not be looking hard enough. How many WU's are we actually trailing by, and how many more per day do we need to be making in order to be on target for this? Are we far off or do we need a hell of a lot more power yet?

I think it will be a week or two before this becomes clear. All we can do now is get SETI running on as many CPUs as we can, then wait and see.

Amen to that. I notice that it is possible to bring WU's with you when you join a team. Would it be unsporting to pursuade unteamed members to join for the good of the country? :)

Perhaps these numbers are OK:

Weekly output Team OcUK - 137150
Weekly output Germany - 75007

Team Ocuk total output - 24056113
Germany total output - 24282330
These numbers are since the 10th November. So...

24,282,330 - 24,056,113 = 226,217 WUs to make up.

With 137,150 - 75,007 = 62,143 per week in closing points.
4 weeks to go so 62,143 * 4 = 248,572 points recovered before the deadline.

Thus 248,572 - 226,217 = 22,355 WUs.

We will beat them by 22,355 WUs*!

*(if everything stays the same and new joiners taking their big stash along for the ride aren't causing fluke numbers)

Whereabouts are those weekly numbers from? TPR seems to think it is 93534-59972= 33562 closing thus:

33562 * 4 = 134248

therefore

226217 - 134248 = we lose by 91969?

wohoo, the dual CPU dual cored 2.8 Xeon's now going at classic. What with the hyperthreading, that's 8 WUs at once. Be interesting to see how many that is in a day
