The network providers will most likely keep the phones for those buying contracts, I remember this with o2 even 3 months after release of the 3gs pay as you go always out of stock whilst contract phones were always available

Prices not looking great !

So anyone worked out what is the best valued way to get the iphone ? Really just wanted PAYG as hardly spending anything on my phone.

We've only had leaks which have not been confirmed. Currently we know:

Orange - Leaked tariffs, not confirmed. no pre-order apparently?

T-Mobile - No tariffs or prices announced. Will be carrying iPhone 4.

3 - No tariffs or prices announced. Will be carrying iPhone 4.

Vodafone - tariffs leaked, not confirmed. no pre-order apparently?

O2 - tariffs released but no handset costs. no pre-order apparently?

Can someone correct me if I'm wrong? :)

i have been playing math with the voda plans

now if we say the phone costs 600 on payg (i want the 32gb)

and you spend 15 a month which on o2 gets you unlimited texts and internet i think some calls as well over 18 months you spend £870 and can then carry on as you like

over the 18 month contract (£40) you spend £899 (thats the 600 min plan)
over 25 month plan (£35) you spend £1019

so it comes down to how long you want to be in contract and what you going to do when it runs out.

For me an 18month contract might be the best as i dont have the money now to get a PAYG phone and at the end of my 18 months i will get the iphone 5 or if there is nothing new take out a very cheap contract and use the sim in my iPhone 4.

edit just looked at the o2 sim for PAYG and its £30 a month for unlimited texts £15 a month only gets you 300 sms

Thanks for clearing that up Meatball.

I've just joined the thread as I realised my contract for my 3G runs out next month. I was planning on just switching to simplicity but am a little tempted by an upgrade now.

Eagerly awaiting o2's prices & what they have to offer existing customers wishing to upgrade.

Vodafone are definitely taking pre-orders from tomorrow, no clue on the rest though.

Direct quote off the 'test' site they had up for about 10 minutes earlier on:
'Get iPhone 4 as soon as it's available

Pre-order your iPhone 4 by midnight on 22 June, and we'll make sure it's with you by 24 June.
We'll also give you unlimited 60 minute calls to any Vodafone UK mobile - free.'

For those interested in getting one from an Apple Store, you can reserve one.
