You are, like a lot of people, confusing raw intellect with knowledge. A high IQ is simply and indicator of potential, not accomplishment.

You can be fiercely intelligent but know relatively little.

I'm not confusing anything at all, I'd already pointed out that: "having a high IQ isn't a good indicator of real-world intelligence (which is a combination of the skills required to do well in an IQ test combined with world experience, knowledge retention, and a billion-and-one other things too)."

Apologies if you found that difficult to understand.

Effectively, I'll take that as a compliment then. I wouldn't feel the need to take someone down for something distinguishing because I probably wouldn't feel that he's elevated above me, which you must do to have invoked this term.

I don't believe it's necessary to actually have or exhibit a behavioural trait to understand what it is called. I invoked this term because it's what I have seen here time and time again. I don't feel the need to "cut you down to size" (using the Tall Poppy analogy) as you managed that yourself by having pictures of your willy all over the internet.

:)

You really are stuck up your own arse, with your annoying name, 'I think I'm classy' sig, your little suit and geek sunglasses. Well let me tell you, you're not cool, you're not above us and you certainly aren't going to be pleasing any ladies any time soon.

So please, take your IQ, your good looks, your dwarf snake, and gtfo.

That's harsh. The guy has given us all a good laugh.

What you're talking about isn't "real-world intelligence" its something more vague like "nouse", inwhich case your statement is true, high IQ isn't a good indicator of nouse.

IQ recognises patterns, picks up skills quicker, generally comprehend things. Think of early man, one of the species used stone tools to scavenge meat off dead animals. They used a core stone and struck it with a hammer stone to create sharp flakes useful for their intended purpose. The smartest apes today have been shown this technique excessively, but cannot replicate the comprehension of how to strike the stones at the right angle, on the right point, and with the right force to make useful flakes.

intelligence is an odd thing - its very complicated and a single test or accomplishment is not representative of overall intelligence. a high IQ says you are good at IQ tests. Being a grandmaster at chess means you are very good at chess. now, its true that those sorts of people are not stupid but it also usually true that they aren't geniuses either - they simply happen to have a talent for a very narrow type of test, and i don't consider that to be intelligence, or at least great intelligence.
i have met people with high IQ's etc who i wouldn't say were anything more than average. but i have also met people who don't have many qualifications who are significantly more intelligent than they would otherwise appear on paper.

I notice how casitel and gaidin have been able to talk about this and other such things without any issue at all, in fact most people in those threads (and this one) have simply been interested in what they have to say.

Where's Gaidin anyway these days? Quite enjoyed him getting annoyed at Cosmo in the Climategate thread. Dude sure had some m4d SkILLZ.

LOL Epic thread with Tefal doing his usual OCUK detective skillz...nice way to bring a cocky member down to earth.

karma for what?

and I got 146.

Did I confuse you? My apologies, let me break it down for you:

You are an overly bewildered juvenile seeking an abundance of approval where and when ever possible to justify your own existence. Perhaps you didn't get enough attention as a kid, maybe you're a sibling and your parents didn't love you the most, or maybe they're divorced and times got tough. Either way, you're now projecting most of your insecurities and shame onto the rest of the world in a bid to establish yourself.

Most people use this time in their lives (because it is a common thing) to project the notion of uncertainty onto their family friends or partner. But there's clearly something wrong at home, your friends probably feel alienated by your chosen route of projection (self-important bragging) and you clearly haven't had any attention from the female gender.

All of this coupled with your personality disorders has lead you down a self destruct route. You seek approval via both a negative and positive means, anything to bring attention to your characteristics as an individual and allow people to evaluate you. The negative evaluations are hurtful, sure, but you don't really care as it still gives you the chance to communicate to another human being about you and only you.

You'll post pictures of your penis for approval, tell people you're smart for approval, project an image of egocentric superiority for approval, defend yourself with open questions for the approval of those questions, all sorts.

Where does karma boil into all of this? Because you're so totally absorbed in yourself that you have finally reached the ultimate end of your journey, which is complete unadulterated public humiliation. I hope it tastes good. Sort your life out and stop projecting onto others, other than the fact it's entertainment, we really don't care. It's sad.

I'd love to be that clever, although home-educated? No thanks. Sociability is probably non-existent in his life.
And if he goes to the right college at Cambridge he won't be too out of place, lots of them are entirely geared up around people not being ready for the real world.

Potential of what, can I ask? Not **** stirring, just curious.

Potential to comprehend, learn, problem solve, anything requiring mental acuity. For example; You have two people, one with an IQ of 150, another with an IQ of 100. You give them both the same problem, the one with the higher IQ, everything else being equal would in all likelihood solve the problem far quicker. At the end of the day both would acquire the same knowledge but the level of effort required would be different.

He got fed up with a couple of people keep calling him a liar and generally being abusive so he quit posting. He's in the US at the moment. I've tried to talk him into contributing, but I think he's too busy.

Has he got rid of his account then, seeing as it's nowhere to be found? Also, lying about what?
