January Transfer Window 2010/2011 Season Rumours/Signings

Wonder what's forced his hand at this point? Seemed like he enjoyed football under Kenny so far. Does he not want to play with Suarez?

I suspect a few games under a caretaker manager and the possibility of 1 decent signing hasn't made up for being lied to for the past years by H&G and then Cecil.

You'd have hoped he'd have at least waited until the summer and certainly not went about trying to force a move the way he has, but his reasons for wanting to leave are difficult to argue with.

As greedy as players are today the role of agents really stinks. I wonder half of the time if a player knows what his agent is up to.

I've said several times before, the way in which agents are paid has to be reviewed.

How can an agent give honest advice when, in the case with Torres, he stands to earn several £m if Torres leaves and little to nothing if he stays?

Definitely not, just seems strange timing. I guess he might've been hoping that we would get back into the champions league positions this season.

The way he is leaving is a complete <insert lots of swearing> disgrace, he can take a plastic flag and shove it, yeah im immature, but the guy was my ****ing idol.

The transfer fees also get hiked up so the clubs pay the agents fees and not the player.

Indeed the timing is odd. And makes me think even more that this may have been agreed with Chelsea for some time and the decision to leave it so late is a tactic to stop the likes of City coming in.

Correct. Torres leaves and I can see the floodgates opening. Gerrard to Real, Reina to Barca, Carra to Tranmere?

What a night. Hoping for a better day tomorrow, Sky Sports News viewing figures are going to go through the roof.

Keep seeing De Gea being linked to MU, IMHO based on what I've seen he is clearly the best U21 keeper in Europe, not just a great player but also supremely confident and bosses his defence around like a man in his 30s. Kinda annoying not to see Arsenal buying him, it's surely only a matter of time before he gets snapped up by a bigger club and the 'secret' will be well and truly out.

Maybe if Liverpool hadn't been so slow about getting in reinforcements, how long after Kenny was installed was he still claiming in interviews he got a quick call on a cruise, hasn't met with the owners and hasn't discussed bringing anyone in yet, 10 days, 2 weeks after he took charge? Hardly a sign of stability and of moving forwards. Suarez deal "he's 22-28mil" in the press, and from Ajax, so they keep offering 10mil less, would Torres have asked for a transfer request if they signed up Suarez 2 weeks ago and a winger, and a left back already, maybe not.

For once I agree. The club has been woeful this transfer window. It's the first opportunity for the new owners to make a statement of intent. In reality they've been very indecisive and it's not really sent out the right message.

It's difficult in January but the squad has seen very little investment over the last couple of years and it shows. Torres has been very loyal up until now and he's waited long enough to see the squad bough up to scratch. I don't expect a complete rebuild in Jan but the owners have been in long enough to see where we're short and I'd expect those positions to start being filled. All we've done so far is sell Babel.

If the result of the transfer request means they start tackling things with a bit more impetus then that's a positive step.

To sign a player of Suarez's calibre sends out the right message. I don't think many if any Liverpool supporters expected to see us sign any big name players this window.

In an ideal world we'd have tied up the Suarez deal in a matter of days but it's not an ideal world. Ajax were bargaining just as hard as we were and had we accepted their £30m demands, it would have sent out completely the wrong message and we'd have been ****ed over with every deal we do from now on.

Quality purchase for the 'Pool that.

Can't wait to see him in action, I agree that Liverpool have a long way to go rebuilding the team, but Suarez sends out a message, what a start to a new era of management of the club (owners wise). It's a statement, there are a lot of top European clubs that would have welcomed him.

Well looks like i was wrong, Gutted he has handed in a request surprised he has done it now would have thought may wait until summer.

Least we have rejected it i hope our owners do stand firm or atleast say your staying put till summer then you may go. They have done everything else right thus far.. On a side note which is a rant they may aswell only do 1 year contracts in football as they mean pretty much nothing these days anyway!

Disappointed that Torres will leave but better footballers have left liverpool YNWA. Torres has been loyal to liverpool but it might take a couple of seasons for liverpool to compete for the title again. Let get the best price for him 40million + and out of every club why Chelsea. I rather have him go to city.
