January Transfer Window 2010/2011 Season Rumours/Signings

As for the debate about lack of time to replace Torres, my attitude is that Liverpool should be writing off this season anyway, they could flog Torres and then trickle through to the end of the season with Suarez, Kuyt and Ngog up front - plus maybe even Sturridge. They are a staggering NINE points and TWENTY-THREE goals off 4th place, despite having played MORE games. Having submitted a written transfer request his heart clearly isn't in it, £40m + Sturridge isn't such a bad deal to consider.

Has Suarez actually signed by the way? Only the fee's been agreed, still have to do medical and personal terms, will he still want to join LIverpool without Torres, will he want too much money in wages if Torres stayed, would he want more to be convinced to go to Pool if Torres left and the team was weaker?

I think assuming Suarez is still happy to sign(end of the day for footballers its about money more than what club they play out) then the second his medical is done and everythings looking like being finalised Chelsea will bid marginally more and Pool will accept.

I thought of someone else they should get, Trezeguet, he's a little old but thats perfect, he'll be VERY cheap, he won't be insane wages, he's only got a couple years to go and he's looking for a final club. Look at his scoring record, he's been very good this year, and because you have limited choices with 3 days left the fact he's only got a couple years left, and his cost both work towards that. He's a short term solution and a pretty damned good one at that.

I remember years ago I wanted Arsenal to get him and Kluivert. Ahh, youthful desires.

Why sell now when in the summer there is likely to be greater interest and therefore a likelyhood that we'll get more for him, as well as keeping him for the rest of the season?

I doubt it somehow. We can credit him for outing Parry, H&G and Purslow, but he can't take credit for everything :p
Think it stemmed from Ballague breaking the story, and he said on Sky that his source was an ex-LFC employee. Torres still speaks to Rafa often (Confirmed by Rafa on radio City) so people put 2 and 2.

Very strong statement from the owners. I really don't know what reception he's going to get when he next puts on the jersey. He won't leave in this window, the statement is quite clear. Kenny will have a word, so will Gerrard and we'll double his wages to £200k like Man Utd did with Rooney and everything will be ok and i'll wake up tomorrow morning and realise the last 3 hours have been all a nightmare.

Night.

I had to look it up to check, he's only 34, he could still be playing, I was a little surprised to see he was playing only a couple years ago still at Lille and seemingly was good when he started.

Arsenal were for AGES rumoured to be bringing him, would have loved to have him, saw him play in a friendly at the Nou Camp, Barca vs Santos, was awesome despite sitting in the nose bleed seats and basically seeing a bunch of teeny tiny stick men kick around a tiny ball :p

keep in mind Trezuguet is 8th highest scorer in la liga, for Hercules, ahead of Fabiano, Kanoute, Forlan, Iniesta, Negredo, Aguero, etc, etc, etc.

his scoring record over the years is phenomenal really, 18 appearances, 9 goals this year, at a not so great team. He's well worth a punt for anyone really, but certainly Liverpool, he basically went to Hercules to get games so he could show he could still perform and was injury free, which he's done, he's on a short contract and pretty much just waiting to be bought, couple mil, couple days, should be easy. Of whose available and quickly he's probably the single best option.

Because in summer he'll be 6 months nearer to the end of his contract, he might get a year long injury before then meaning no one buys him till a year later when he's worth no where near his current value.

A LOT can change in 6 months, its also better to BUILD a team now, gel a few new key players and get used to playing sans Torres now as you aren't getting relegated, and you aren't getting in the CL, so who the hell cares either way.

If you improve all season with Torres, then start with a completely new "main man" upfront next season, you're going to take some time to adjust next season, when you have a chance to start fresh and push on up the table.

We don't need Torres. If anything, it'll upset our frontline, and Drogba will react very poorly if he's dropped. We can still finish 3rd or 2nd with the squad we have, as well as challenge strongly in Europe if everybody remains fit.

It's stuff like this which gives us a bad reputation. Nothing will come of this transfer - if Torres does leave, it'll be in the summer to City or Real Madrid, and we'll be dubbed a laughing stock who have no idea how to negotiate deals. We've already missed out on a deal that looked like it was going through this window, probably because we turned our attention to Torres and upset Benfica.

Liverpool have said he's not for sale. I believe them. Why can't we just leave it be?
