Show Us Your Motors!

New motor for me. :)

Purchased from Nomisf on here actually. Rover 75 Connisuire SE CDT.

Lovely car, only real gripe is a little dent on the wing. Other than that the car is immaculate.

The amount of visible rust on that is a bit daunting. I'm guessing you're going to have to completely strip the whole thing down and sandblast/repair/respray the bodywork before anything else?

The rear tailgate is (in)famous for its ability to rust so that doesn't bother me because I was expecting it. The seller threw in an outer lower skin with the car too, which was nice.

The sills, chassis in general, outer wings and the inner wing on the passenger side seem ok

But it looks like I need 2 doors, upper tailgate, one maybe two rear 3/4 panels (One seems to be made mostly of filler  ) plus a few age-appropriate trim pieces. Oh and big tyres and a 2" lift kit :D

Best bit so far? It was blue originally so I can get rid of that awful green "in pursuit of originality"

I have one question, and I'm not trying to pick things out for the sake of it...but does anyone else think BMW need to ditch the orange dash lighting? It's starting to look pretty old fashioned, reminds me of a 1980s Atari Arcade :p.

Orange is meant to be a good colour for low light visibility so maybe there's method behind it, even if that's not it.

must admit i'm not a fan of the orange either. Much prefer white.

I love the orange glow of all the switch gear in my M5, gives the whole cabin a really nice ambience. Not too distracting yet bright enough to know what button you're pressing.

That 550i is just wow, it's not a colour combo I'd probably go for but looks fantastically well put together. Light years ahead of the E60 imo.

Both these cars deserve their own thread.

Oh my that's a nice car simulatorman ...infact I think you just 'won' OcUK Show us your Motors ...at least for me you did :D ...unless someone has a Jaguar XFR they haven't posted pictures of yet at least.

I must admit having driven plenty of fast cars mainly jap stuff 300zx, Supras, 200sx, GTOs and the like, the E39 M5 has honestly overwhelmed me. It's so smooth around town just tickling the throttle, but give in some stick and its blurred scenery time, its amazingly quick to accelerate from any speed.

That 550i has the edge on the E39 M5 going by the stats, 0-100 is about a second quicker, amazing for a non M car.

Just noticed this.
He's got comfort seats, which are brilliant. Everything's electric.

Simulatorman - I guess you traded your X6 in for this? Is it a company car?

The seats are excellent with great back support and really do knock the X6 sports seats for six. The X6 has gone as part of this deal. I can’t say I’m sorry to see it go as the bulk and ride were beginning to impact on my enjoyment of it.

After 24 hours I am just overwhelmed by it and have this sneaking suspicion that the smile on my face will get larger and stay on my face for a long time. The power delivery is just awesome. The auto sport box has beautiful changes and I’ve not yet had it in sport mode. The adaptive drive is still on comfort setting and ride is so silky smooth that it would send a baby off to sleep. We’ll see what it does in normal, sport and sport+ modes.

I’m wading through the 300 page handbook so have yet to play with some of the toys although parking assist (it parallel parks for you) is a hoot. A nice touch is that the handbook is available incar, accessible on that huge LCD screen via iDrive.

The best of all is that it has official approval from she who must be obeyed because she can get into this one easily. :D

Anyway guys, thanks for all your comments and I’ll put up more pictures with further review as the days go on. :)
