And not one normal car to just do life in. and the yaris and alpine got sold yet ‘were sublime’ Tbh it’s just a churn of cars and not really understanding any of the purchase decisions or why you spend so much taxing and insuring so many cars. Sorry just had to say it as it really perplexes me why every car is amazing then sold within 3 months.

Merry Xmas
I do that often enough, I had 4 cars in 23 for example because I can’t have them all at the same time so selling one and getting another allows me to experience more.

The fd2 for example was a great car but I had my fun with it, took it to the ring etc and sold it on. The only keeper for me is the s2000 but even that may go as I’ve had it for a few years and that’s never the case with me and cars really.

Funny car the X-trail, I am not really sure who it is for, unless you need a 7 seat version, then I could see it, they had this for sale for £38k while I had it...

things I disliked:
Power tailgate, this worked 2/10 times, when it closed the alarm kept going off, so I stopped using the boot 2 weeks in. (also felt like it took ten hours to close and open)
31 mpg expected better from something supposedly so efficient
Steering, so light, felt like I was driving a relatives Micra.
Kids complaining in the back as the heating controls in there seemed broken, put it on hot, basically does not work, switch to cold loads of fan speed
General touch screen stuff
notamustang over and over.

Things I liked
Heated windscreen
Heated steering wheel
360 camera, this was pretty useful in car parks, as this felt quite a large car
ermm.... it was relatively swift for its size to be fair

Was posting in another thread relating to Nissan's situation and the Xtrail as an example, their cars are in such a funny place at the moment and they've effectively priced themselves out of the market.

I like the look of the Xtrail but it is around 10 grand too expensive for what it is and too many things which don't live up to the marketing.

They've been trying to market it heavily as having a certain amount of off-road credential lately but it really isn't that - if it was the 40K price point might be a bit more appropriate.

I actually like the light steering on Nissan - it takes a bit of getting used to and there is a certain amount of trust it is doing what you want - but it does and you kind of miss it going to other cars.

Like the X-trail it was highly speced and whilst I expect scratch plastic galore at that price point, I didn't expect the amount of creaks and rattles.

Related to this and the above one of the things which disappoints me with Nissans lately - the higher trim level interiors look nice, if understated but I like understated, at first glance with soft touch materials on passenger facing surfaces, premium looking and feeling controls and a connected aesthetic, etc. but then you notice the hard scratchy plastic say used for the base of the centre console which just rattles and creaks, etc. and think you (Nissan) just have to do better for a 40 grand car.

Merry Xmas

First of all Merry Christmas.

Only one car has been sold within three months, which was the Gen2 GR Yaris and well yes amazing it was but I was made a strong offer so I flipped it, made financial sense and I did 1000 plus miles so had my fun and got out with a few grand tax free in my pocket. Also also monetised my YouTube channel so a weee bonus.

Alpine still with me and owned for ten months now, I generally keep cars a year and move on as I enjoy trying different cars and to truly know a car I feel I need to own to discover as in general even an hour test drive is not good enough, not every dealership wants to loan me a car for several days only McLareb and Porsche have really done that.

My second shortest lived car was 991 GT3 and though great it was I feel was a bit I met my hero and did not live up to expectations its weakness was it did not feel special it was also only fun flat out at jail time speeds. So it went!

Only other time is when I can buy a car cheap so I know full well in six months I can move it without much loss, Giulia QF for example good to try, just like trying different stuff and stuff I buy even for a short time are great cars but to stay on the driveway it really has to pull at my heart strings.

Agreed on road tax and insurance yes it’s a nightmare and cost thousands, just taxes R8 as owned it a year now, £735 and insurance is due in a couple of weeks which will be around £2000 for the fleet.

Got no purchases planned just looking forward to getting McLaren back as it’s been in for a gremlin for weeks now so thank god for warranty which I’ve just renewed last week for two years at £4328 but worth it as I do love that car, if I ever went GT3 again have to be an old one but for now McLaren is probably best supercar I’ve owned and it will be sticking around for a third year.

Doubt I’ll ever sell Corvette as it cost zero to own, tax £0 and insurance is £150, it never breaks and it’s thirst for dinosaurs is fine and eventually the E30 be same and was always my dream car though battling rot is expensive as is upgrades, so doubt it will ever go plus it’s kind of my sensible car, well it’s got 4 seats and a big boot. :D

Some people store cash in their bank, some store it on their drive. Doubt he has lost much given the models he buys/people he rips off (Porsche GT3 comes to mind that he got from a mate and flipped for 10k more a month or two later :D)

Six months later! ;)
I buy nice spec examples and rarer brighter colours as come resale they are always easier to move on and for strong money.

The whole buy a safe colour is utter nonsense in my experience. My yellow 458 sold so fast and for strong money over five years later simply because it was not red or black. Market has changed and buyers of rarer colours is better nowadays.

Don’t hate the player nothing better than owning a car, having some fun and it then making you a profit.

Family and proper close friends get the good deals, if your just an acquaintance or a random then as the saying goes I know what I got and you need to pay. ;)

I store my cash everywhere, under the bed, banks, pensions, crypto and yes cars and property. :)
