That's a bit crap :/
Although if that guy says it's fixed in 1.5 then I really can't wait for 1.5!

Lose the addon mods if it's slowing the upgrade down FT. But then I never liked the giant mod anyway

no, the nether is still alive and well in single-player.

it's just, there used to be a mod that enabled it on the OcUK server, which was disabled because it was causing considerable instability.

Yeah, as posted above it's likely related to a particular plugin - in this case, the giants mod.

Did the giants mod do any other creatures other than the zombies? I've only ever seen giant zombies (not actually found a use for bones yet personally so it's a pretty useless mod for me

Okay I've been playing this all afternoon and made a sweet underground mine...

However, I've yet to come across a dungeon... =/

I remember when I played a while ago, as I was mining I would come across massive open areas underground with monsters, lava, water etc.

I've not come across anything but a few blocks of Gold, Diamond and Iron
