If your having to venture away from camp, is it best to just dig yourself in or fight in the night?

I had to go MILES to find some sheep for some wool to make a bed, nearly home and got killed - lol

If it's a heavily wooded area it's just not worth going out, creepers could be behind every tree. If it's an open plain it's not so bad, but it's probably still best avoided if you can.

Try building a town wall around your place, so you can still do stuff at night inside your compound. Then use wheat to get sheep to follow you home, start a farm and you'll not have to worry about that anymore!

Surround with fence or wall as well if you want real protection and light within.

Does a wall/fence have to be a specific height to be effective?

The standard fence size will keep mobs out.....its designed for that task

wall will need to be 2 blocks high

Three blocks high with one poking outwards from the third block will do it, unless there's a hill outside. Then you've a choice between flattening the hill or building a much higher wall.

Either way, it's completely worth it, especially if it's big. The server I'm on has a big central town wall and we're busy filling in the space with buildings. Being able to construct stuff at night is great, you effectively don't have to worry about the time unless you venture outside the walls.

One thing to remember is to light up the roof of any buildings (depending on the material used) and the tops of any trees within the secure perimeter you establish as creepers can and do spawn on the tops of trees and buildings.

The answer is - a lot of people care because they've been playing minecraft for over a year and watching/listening to the yogscast for just as long.

It's no wonder people who've been playing for 2 weeks don't care.

Anybody know what happened to tier III potions in the release? There's plenty of talk about them for the b1.9 but nothing since r1.0, and I can't find recipes for them. Have they been removed?

So, the yogscast who will have videos taken of their behaviour and take videos of themselves at gaming event, are going to be doing this, hmm? Especially when they've NEVER done anything like this before and have talked with youtube celebrities etc who have never complained about their behaviour - infact this is the first time it happened, while Notch himself was a dick to them while good naturedly, I hope, on their videos and joking about masturbation.
Minecraft chick I think, or someone else in Mojang/affiliates of Mojang expected them to have a panel about themselves for an hour, and say they were annoyed when they had most of their panel dedicated to the community, while Notch says they're selfish and accuses them of talking behind peoples backs while he does this himself on twitter at a time he knows they have limited access to the internet.

Yeah, they are real bad guys, huh?
