BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Well guys another failed booking...

Got home tonight after a days work to find out BT didnt even turn up for the second appointment as they failed the first.

So P****d off right now its making me feel sick..

All i want is the service i renewed 18mth contract for (80/20), not to speak to some idiots in india and get fobbed off all the time.. Really dont know where to go from here as my service is still down from the original speeds on 40/10.

Just ordered mine, switching from sky, so it's going to feel much nicer I hope! Max speed is apparently 65Mb/s so will see how it works out.

Oh... I have my appointment tomorrow... I just hope they turn up! booked day off work. Knowing BT I will be in the same boat as you.
 
My phone switches to BT tomorrow so gonna lose the net totally as they phoned me to let me know as I'm switching from sky they can't do the phone and infinity on the same day, just hope next Monday is available as I don't have another week day off for three weeks!
 
Upgrade today going from 235kbs down and 105kbs up to...


36.28 Mbs Down and 8.24Mbs up with ping of 21ms (wireless upstairs)

:) Happy.

just opened up steam and ping ping ping. COD, Red Nation and FM2012 have finished downloading updates :)

So I rebooted the router and the modem to try and fix it.

Just tested again and its back at 8mbit but.. it was 30 last night!

Whats happened?

Yep it's going to fluctuate during the first 10 days to stabilize. Don't touch the hardware at all if you can :)

Mine has stayed stable so far since they fixed the "error" on my line

Isn't BT fibre exactly the same as normal broadband with the first 10 days where they test for errors and what not to establish the best line speed you can hold.
 
Does anybody else find that speedtest.net gives you dodgy readings at times? It's just I see a lot of people using it here but I find the bbmax tester a lot more accurate.

I have had fibre for over 12 months, not with BT but I always received speedtest results at full throttle.

I have just switched to BT, the price is a no brainer, I go live on the 8th so it will be interesting to see what results I get compared with the previous provider.

Yes, especially since I upgraded to 80/20 so I've started using bbmax now.
