I've just specced up a Ribble Gran Fondo, with full Ultegra groupset & a couple of other upgrades it comes in at £1223
I was waiting until new year for my new bike, but the Allez has just eaten it's headset & steerer by shearing off the head bolt

I could just get a replacement set of forks/headset for £80 here, but to be honest the frame is worn out having done 30,000 miles & I want something nice to ride for the rest of the summer.

I also specced up an R872 frame with the same kit fitted & that was £1250, not so sure the geometry of the 872 is right for me though as i'm an old fart of 45! :D

Woohoo, bike frame back from the powder coaters:

They've made a really good job of it. It's really smooth and well finished, and it looks like they've done their job masking all the threads and so on. I'll probably put it back together over the course of this week and then give it a ride sometime, see if it's any faster now it's red ;)

Never had it, you must be going too slow. Get faster! ;)

The only standing around was at the coffee shop after my solo pre group ride ride, extra 16km before the bunch ride to help boost my Kay's.

It wasn't raining that much, but there was standing water and lots of spray. Most people had nothing or a small rear guard only, certainly no full guards, I had a Contador style ass saver but that's it.

Both wheels, and they are both different to each other in every way apart from the tyre.

Another grey and drizzly saturday morning bunch ride:

Was quite good once we got going, but strangely sedate by usual standards. Mostly stayed together until the sprint, although i was still way in the red a few times.

Had one of those rides where there were quite a few sketchy moments for some reason. Had a bus pull the brakes on right in front of the bunch. Then later on there had been some roadworks and a small ramp left in the road surface. I didn't see it til late and a few of us hit it quite hard. I was ok, but about 20 seconds later one of the guys in front punctured, the guy in front of me slammed the anchors on and i locked up trying to avoid him but just managed to hold it. Bit squeeky bum time!

Seen the Merlin website has had an overhaul. Still not as good as wiggle...

Annoying, I want to buy a big tub of SIS powder, add to basket on Merlin find enough for free shipping, then I'm told they don't ship that to Australia. Wiggle will though....

The new Specialized Aero bike looks sleek.
No visible cables, aero brakes behind the fork and seat stay and an integrated stem and bar.

Woke up this morning to a message saying that one of my KOMs had been taken. Was quite curious to see who had managed it as it's one I jointly hold with one of my neighbours here and neither of us seem to be able to better our previous times. Turns out it was by someone who'd left their GPS on in their car and had also recorded themselves doing 46mph through a village with a 30mph limit (and several pedestrian crossings) as well as 68mph towards a junction in a 50mph limit. Speeding and then uploading the full GPS log to a website - doesn't sound like the smartest of ideas, but I guess the chance of anything happening is still 0%.

It is love/hate for sure. The new Trek is also going down integrated stem/bar route but it's more pretty than the Specialized, sorta, kinda.....

Guys, what do you make of the GD thread about the woman eating cereal? I am not even going to try and defend the cyclist because he is of the militant type that give the rest of us a bad name. Some incredible cyclist hate being displayed in GD though, not sure what's wrong with people.

I try to never join those, it's an endless and empty argument :) it surprises me that I share roads with people like that to be honest.. :o
