Price is irrelevant to many though. If the 1080 was £1000 people would still pay it, smile on their faces and say "it doesn't matter, I'm happy"... well yeah, I guess in the grand scheme of things that really is all that matters, but it doesn't exactly translate as sane behaviour from an external perspective. But ignore that, no matter... we should all live our lives according to nothing but our own internal view of the world, oblivious to any common sense or attempt to sit back and see things from an alternative point of view... that philosophy can't possibly go wrong can it?

The 1070 will cost around £320 for the base models once settled and it is as fast as a £900 TitanX and yet people are still complaining.

The mInd boggles at this place sometimes.

Who is actually pleased here the 1080 is 600 quid?

All these fancy coolers and fancy power connectors and fancy lights and guff.

The facts are all right here for all to see.

Someone who was going to buy a Ti but didn't :p. When I sell my Ti's should make the upgrade about £200. I'll be happy with that and enjoy the cards.

I'm more worried about the $899 FE 1080Ti price next year :D. Who knows what the Titan will be $1499? Lol.

Oh, yeh id already seen that . Ordered one last night for a laugh/ as a back up plan whilst i make my mind up.

Will probably cancel it and go for a 1070 though.

Ditto. Its not needed bandwidth wise and will just add costs.

It will be nice at the end of 2017 for the next GPU on the 16/14nm process. Yep, I sure we will see 2 generations on this node size as 10nm doesn't look to be appropriate for GPUs like 20nm was. A switch to HbM2 will free up around 30w to pump into the GPU, Which will help make a bigger performance jump on the same node size.

But for big pascal, certainly no need for the cost, complexity, supply issues. Even for next Gen I think it will be reserved for only the higher tiers.

Yeh i cant see gp102 using hbm. Not really nvidia's style recently to go overboard with bandwith.

Probably 12 or 16gb of gddr5x on a 384bit bus. That will be more than enough, especially if they have 12gb/s gddr5x by then.

Sadly the small number of 980ti and TX owners seem to believe the world revolves around them and a card must be judged against them only. In fact it must have come as a relief that the 1070 was only equal and the 1080 only 25% better and at much lower power and with extra features too as the moaning would have been horrendous.

Not me, I was hoping it would be a massive leap, at least then it would give me an excuse to buy one.

For me with a 1500 clocked Ti the cost to performance gain just isn't worth it, I'll wait for the proper card.

I thought **** it and went for an Asus FE earlier today and it's awesome!! Very quiet fan profile whilst keeping it around 80c and running it at 2Ghz to test (without any voltage tweaks).

Love it and a great boost in fps (just playing Division atm tbh, and will be for a good while)

It'll do til the Ti shows its face ;)

Or you could compare it with the 980Ti like everyone else is doing as the general view has for some time been that the 980Ti made the titanX a very overpriced card so shouldn't be the basis for any comparison. (Yes, I know you love your quad-card goodness kaap ;) before you jump on me about the extra RAM with 4 cards worth of grunt)

For me the 1070 is the far more interesting card of the two though still more expensive for it's performance right now than I personally think it's worth... but plenty other people will disagree. If it comes down to £320 it'd be a lot more interesting but it's nowhere near that now.
