*** The Official X1950 Pro Thread ***

Yes, the PCI-E card. Basically, it was fine in windows and non-graphically demanding games, but as soon as I tried anything graphically intensive, the system would freeze and I'd completely lose video. Monitor would turn to standby and I'd have to hard reset. When I had the CCC installed, same thing happened - but 'VPU recovery' kicked in and graphics were restored.

Throughout this, the core never went above 60 degrees according to ATI Tray tools, which led me to believe that something other than the core was overheating. I was linked to a thread in Sapphire's own forums, pointing to overheating VRMs as the problem. The OCUK tech support guy confirmed that he'd heard similar - suggesting that people with smaller cases - and therefore more 'focussed' air flow (or those with a case with a side fan blowing onto the card) were avoiding the lockups.

The card locked up in Need 4 Speed Carbon, as well as trying the Artifact testing tool in ATI TT.

There seems to be some differences in the bundles people are getting with this card?

Note: regardless of which HIS bundle you get neither of them include a molex-to-PCI Express power adapter, so if your PSU doesn't have a PCI-Express plug make sure you buy an adapter!

I would expect the boxes that ship to be sealed & with all accessories, apparently two posters have recieved boxes with missing items? (if the boxes were sealed I do not know).

Don't worry about it, the HIS is a smashing card, the 256MB version was £153 just over a week ago, this week only= bargain! :D

The nmissing items that someone posted was NOT the HIS card, so far the HIS cards have been all complete
