Is the same for u Yeti?

yes it is wayne, my white cable was tucked inside, i pulled it out in the hope it was causing the rattle but no joy.

shame it has to go back cracking card 10,300 3dmark05 out the box with my stock e6400.

do u think the ones with the short white cable are ok? maybe i could ask ocuk to check one for me? do u think they would do that? hmmm i really like this card it does a good job blowing warm air out the case.

Got my HIS X1950 Pro today, gutted it wont run any 3d without crashing within 3 minutes

After spending all day fresh installs of XP all drivers etc, Finally worked out what is wrong the card It will only run 3d if the core is dropped back to 580 on the Gpu looks like its a duff core it is 620 by default.

Looks like its rma time.

------------------------------------------------------

Had exactly the same problem with mine, Dutch777. I never tried underclocking mine though - assumed the core speed wasn't the problem, given that the core temp never went above 60. RMA-d the card.

Well I got three HIS cards here atm, they all work perfectly just that the one with the 'long' white cable 'rattles'. I can't see any other difference between them?. Kinda grasping at straws but my best guess is that one of the 'assemblers' did a sloppy job with the too-long power cable and 'maybe' did something stupid when attaching the fan, I dunno these dudes must slap together hundreds of cards every day (I think they are made by hand and not machine?).

Well I have to agree with you, the HIS X1950 Pro is ace! its just a pity that there are a few that a)Rattle and b) Crash.

I've got a load of other computer hassles going on at the moment so I am thankful I got a working/silent card . . . Stay tuned!

Lol, If I had a penny for every time someones asked Gibbo if something could be checked before dispatch, I'd have enough for a mars bar. They don't check items, they don't have the time or it'll get lost of something, apparently.

Last one I saw was the noisy HDD, I'll see if I can find it.

Meh just phoned up and was told no they cant get the version i want, there too lazy he more or less said to look for the pink glue on the top of the drive.

Meh what a way to lose a customer there lol. It is easily visable on oem drives as its right there in front of you. So if you cant spend 2 mins looking for the ping glue bit then well you dont deserve my custom.

It is not a matter of us being lazy. If you ring up and then one of the sales staff go and check they could say "yes the one I have just checked is fine". However, after you have placed your order, the drive that has just been checked may be shipped on another order and then you wouldn't be happy because we sent you the wrong one. It's the same reason we don't guarantee CPU steppings.
I don't get the last bit though, we all know why they don't specify steppings. We'd all cherry pick the good ones and leave them stuck with the duds. They'd be nuts to do otherwise.

My HIS card arrived today in a properly sealed package with the free games (flat out/dungeon siege), 3 different sets of leads and stuck it in my Antec Sonata II Piano Black Quiet Case - 450W Smart Power PSU along with my new E6400 and other bits, hooked it upto the Hanns-G 19" widescreen and then had a try on the ofp replacement Arma or something with all the graphics maxed out at 1440x900 and wooooooooooo it flies :D
IL2 1946 tomorrow night ;)

Hey one thing I just noticed, the HIS card that I have that makes that sound, it has something different to the others. There is a white power cable going from the graphics card PCB to the underside of the fan, well on the two HIS cards I have that are silent, this white cable is short and pretty much cut to length correctly, however on the 'rattly' HIS the white power cable is about 2-3 inches too long and the excess has been folded behind the fan (underside).

/raises hand

Another rattler here :( (HIS 512 MB version) and as an added bonus I've also got the cut down bundled pack. However, that said I'm not too worried about the extra bits :) . The only thing I do find a bit confusing is not having a crossfire dongle, as that does limit your options in future.

Anyway, I've just checked the white cable and it's of the nice short cut to length variety

I was really bored and did some testing with the manual fan slider in ATT. I was hoping if I gave it a good long run at 100% it might disappear, but alas, no. Annoyingly the rattle seems worse when running 'silently' :p
