Well damn, £929 and only one bag of Tangfastics!!!

Joking of course :)

(While I'm not thrilled at a £200 markup, I was willing to pay it as I needed a reasonable stopgap card until gtx Volta varients launch, can't blame OCUK for charging market prices, supply vs demand etc)

Nice one and yer, OTT pricing but fair play to you.

Give the guy a break, he can spend his money any way he likes.

Well said!

Wow. For the first time ever I think I might have bought a GPU at the right time! Bagged a 1080Ti FE direct from Nivida a couple of months ago or so for £650 effectively - after selling the free Destiny 2 code. Didn't even know about all this mining ****. Bonkers.
Wish I'd hung on to my 980Ti a bit longer before I sold it though, could have gouged out a better price it seems.

I wonder what the long term effect will be, with todays pricing it cant be good for the future of pc gaming

Most in here really don't care about the long term effects on PC gaming one jot, all they're interested in is satisfying their lack of self restraint and need to play trivial computer games today...whatever the price.

As long as PC gamers continue to be their own worst enemy, retailers will laugh at them and just keep on taking the money.

I really don't think it will be good. The mining market is highly volatile whereas the gaming market is highly predictable. Of course GPU manufacturers like to sell chips but they also like a stable consumer market.
There are two problems. The miners inflate prices which disrupts the gamers market and they also saturate ebay if the virtual currencies markets take a dive.
Ultimately I think that the GPU manufacturers are going to have to come up with a long term solution. Like specialist mining cards andr graphics cards that can not be used for mining. How, well, I don't know, but really this is causing a severe problem and they need to separate the two markets. If they can do that then they can let the gamers market do business as normal and the miners can be fed cards without any impact on the gamers market.
I think there will always be the dedicated gamers who pay whatever prices are asked of them, but there is a far greater number who will not. I would buy a 1080ti right now but I refuse to pay £900+ for one. I will either wait for prices to come down ( which they may not ) or I will wait for the 20 series and buy something lesser. It means that I will be upgrading less often that I did in the past.

A few months ago that's what i paid for mine.

I saw a 1080Ti strix on fleabay earlier for £650 BIN. Fair to say it didn't last long when they are going £800+.

Any new owners enjoy your card they are fantastic. I certainly wouldn't pay near on 1k though. Pricing on PC parts is just pure insanity at this moment.

Sold my old HX1000i a few days ago which is nearly 5 years old now and actually got more for it than i paid new.

Enjoy the card! They are a great performer. I got mine a couple of weeks ago too. Sorry that you had to pay so much extra.

What a load of rubbish. You think the miniscule amount of gamers who are paying the inflated prices are going to have a long term effect on PC gaming?

That's my point, they won't now but the way availability and demand is going at some point some lunatic might actually hit buy :)

Plenty of new ones going for 999 on eBay btw
I don't see why you wouldn't sell it for £1k. I mean forget current GPU inflation. If folk are daft enough to spend £1500 on a Titan that offers "slightly" better performance than a 1080Ti anything is possible!

Would you rather a miner snapped up all the 6 cards OC had available??

I'm a gamer, I wanted a gaming card, end of.

You enjoy your card mate. Your money, spend it however you like.

He can enjoy playing on his clapped out 4 year old 970.

Ah yes, once again someone mistakes won't spend obscene sums on a GPU, for can't.

..and if you check my post history you'll see I've lost interest in PC gaming for ages now, long before this mining craze started, which is why I'm perfectly happy with my 'clapped out 4 year old 970'....I don't need anything else for media streaming & web browsing.

Has anyone openly criticised you for making that choice?

So you've lost interest in PC gaming, why are you posting snidey comments to someone that's bought a new GPU then?

Can someone explain to me what on earth this is about please?
1070ebay.jpg

Hope I'm not breaking rules about competitors here, as ebay is an auction site not a retailer? Anyhow, its a finished auction and the person has been registered for since 1998, based in the states and has solid feedback. What is going on please?

I saw another like it last night too.

It's a scam, there are so many of them. Check OZ talks hardwares video on it.
They send you an old card with like a 210 GPU on it. hard to get your money back because they claim they delivered. AVOID.

Also they used hacked eBay accounts. Hence the decent feedback.

But then why scam for such an obvious scam price? Why not stick them on for like £279.99 and at least look at little legit while making more money and selling just as fast.

Just seems a lot odd to highlight you're scamming in the price
