10GB vram enough for the 3080? Discuss..

Nvidia understands the importance of VRAM, if your buying a £1000 card......because That's what your paying if you can excavate one of these cards, you are now chastised by a poultry 10GB of VRAM. Even playing MSFS at 1080p, on med/high settings, you are already at nearly 6GB. The gamer that buys a 3080 isn't playing at 1080p. The muppets that say a ''10GB VRAM - RTX 3080'' is more than adequate, are imbeciles, and rightly shackled.

Don't think anyone in here has ever said that, not that I recall and I have read every post.

What people like me have said it we are happy that they went with 10GB as the grunt is a lot more important at the moment than VRAM which not a single game I have played including Cyberpunk 2077 (I play at 4K) has held me back. I need a lot more rasta and rt performance, that is the problem, not vram.

Had they gone 20GB they would have charged a lot more than £649 which is what I paid for my 3080. Chances are by the time there is a game worth playing where I need to turn down texture one notch to be able to play it due to a lack of vram, I will be on a next gen card. So yeah, well happy with this card. Much rather a 3080 with 10GB GDDR6X than a 3070 16GB GDDR6 which would be a similar price.

I have zero regrets moving from a 11GB 1080Ti FTW3 to a 10GB 3080 TUF OC. Both cards cost me £720, while neither has ran out of VRAM. Looking forward to the 4080 and RDNA3.

Bottom line, don't be a Dave.

I need 90fps for VR with my >4k Reverb. The GPU itself is the weakest link for me.

Right now my GPU is begging for mercy while the vram buffer just yawns.

Don't be like Winky, living in denial and and wishing her life away.

You do not play Cyberpunk 4k...well you can with 10GB, medium settings with options turned off yeah. A poultry 10GB don't get you far these days. 4K is always a compromise.

Well you use DLSS 2.0 which works well.

4K is a compromise in like a handful of titles if you want to look at it like that, 99% or more of my steam library works just fine at 4K thank you very much ;)

Poultry 10GB does not get you far these days? What you on about? Works on like 99.9% of games ever made. Please explain what you mean.

Careful you'll hurt their feelings, poor 10gb 1 gonna be funny when the next card arrives with double that

Don't know why people are still getting their panties in a twist over this, well tbf, it only seems to be people who don't have a 3080 or people with >10GB GPUs that are making a big deal out of it :D :p Perhaps they're jelly that they couldn't get a FE for £650 or trying to justify their £800+ GPUs.. :p

If anyone wants to be informed properly whether 10GB will be a problem or not.... just go and watch many youtube videos and read reviews from people who actually "own" the card and you'll see a 3080 is one of the best cards for all resolutions including 4k and that 10GB has not been a problem in any current game so far, even at 4k and most likely won't be a problem for the next couple of years in the "majority" of games... And when/if it does become a problem for peoples gaming needs then I'm sure most of the current 3080 owners could afford to upgrade to the newer and better cards anyway....

How accurate is MSI afterburner for measuring GPU usage (not allocation) with the on-screen display? I just clocked 11.5GB VRAM usage in a very heavily modded Skyrim (Elysium modpack) at 4k resolution, settings maxed out with ENB enabled.

Dedicated vram is what the game is actively using

Let them waste their money always checking VRAM, ''have to turn this off, and turn that down'' who cares about their feelings, i was dumb enough to grab a 3090, so never consider VRAM anymore.
