Its not enough for 1440p/4K with ultra mods in GTA IV and Skyrim.
I was playing GTA 5 fully modded, 4K , max setting with 3080 AIB and never had any issues what so ever with VRAM, was above 60fps through out.

Same here, was running the natural vision redux rehade/mod amongst other mods and not a single issue with gta 5.
Also no issues with skyrim either when I had it, although I didn't have 50+ mods running........
I feel bad for you. You can’t even have 200 mods running on Skyrim. Must be somewhat depressing. Bet you wish you had 24GB VRAM no?Same here, was running the natural vision redux rehade/mod amongst other mods and not a single issue with gta 5.

You need to catch up on the difference between allocated and what is actually used. Many people do not understand this yet. Install the latest MSI Afterburner and you should see the options when setting it up. It is staggering the difference between the two at times.Going by game performance I'm guessing 10GB is going to be just fine for a while to come and engines will dynamically allocate memory, I've noticed with different cards that games tend to use more if more is available maybe as a way of caching ? i.e Horizon Zero Dawn on my 3080 Ti uses 9GB out of the 12GB yet on my HTPC's 5700XT it uses 6GB out of the 8GB with the same exact settings and res.

I'm only seeing 2 options in Afterburner, Memory Usage and Memory Usage/Process, Guessing it would be the latter ?
In Hwinfo I'm seeing Dedicated and Allocated but the difference between the 2 is at most 200MB.
- Enter the MSI Afterburner settings/properties menu
- Click the monitoring tab (should be 3rd from the left)
- Near the top and next to "Active Hardware Monitoring Graphs" click the "..."
- Click the Checkmark next to "GPU.dll", and hit OK
- Scroll down the list until you see "GPU Dedicated Memory Usage", "GPU Shared Memory Usage", "GPU Dedicated Memory Usage \ Process", "GPU Shared Memory Usage \ Process"
- Pick and choose what you want to be tracked using the checkmarks next to them. "GPU Dedicated Memory

Same games are just built lazy and one of the ways they can be lazy is to just ask the system for access to cache all the memory even if it doesn't need it. One of the worst offenders ever is call of duty warzone - it will take up 48gb of vram if you use a 48gb gpu
What's up with far cry 6 requiring 16 gb vram? can this be justified?
https://www.ubisoft.com/es-es/help/...for-higher-resolutions-in-far-cry-6/000098976
Please note that the minimum requirement for running the HD Texture Pack for Far Cry 6 is 16GB of VRAM. If you download and run the HD Texture Pack with lower VRAM capabilities, you will encounter performance issues while playing.
its funny and they actaully had the guts calling it "minimum". at least say it is recommended... they're out of their minds if that's the case. if the trailers of the game have used those so called hd (another mistake in naming? it should be called uhd, no?) textures, then they're not any good than current-gen-games which runs fine on GPUs with 4-6 GB VRAMBecause AMD told them to do so
But seriously, 16gb is an oddly specific number that lines up with the VRAM capacity of many RDNA2 cards

Strange that AMD didn't go with 12GB, GG 6700XT ownersBecause AMD told them to do so

Agreed. I mean if the graphics looked next gen and best out there one could understand. As it is, it will just be another joke of a title no one will take seriously. I don’t buy Ubisoft titles, since they left steam and started requiring uplay crap anyway.Look at how who it is sponsored by and then look at said sponsorships product and what the key selling point for their gpu is.... it's no surprise that amd will be wanting to push/sell the "advantages" of more vram. Same way nvidia would overdo tessellation back in the day to promote their gpus over amd.
Do agree though, the game is most defo not looking very "next gen" like compared to many other games so it will be interesting to see perf and also how ray tracing fares as usually when that is turned on, even in amd sponsored games where the ray tracing effects are very limited, amd still tend to get hit rather hard, which allows nvidia to then take the lead.
