Except i don't remember anyone saying that 10GB would be an issue in one years time.;)
You are right, most were saying it was an issue from the get go :p

vram is a scam just like ram, PCs don't need memory it's just to stop us from downloading more ram
Yep, that is what I do. I have 8GB on my card, when I decide to run games like Half Life 2 I am forced to download 16GB more VRAM to make sure it runs smoothly :D

When Far Cry 6 comes out some review site should do a texture analysis, compare visual quality versus VRAM usage and what offers the best balance. I think a lot of the time ultra and extreme settings offer very little in terms of visual improvement but gobble up resources terribly, they're basically there to justify high end graphics cards.

I'm surprised no one mentioned the fact that recommended cpu to run the game at 30fps with ray tracing is Ryzen 5 5900X...

It's there because pc gamers want it to be there, it's PCvgamers who want to try and justify their $5k gaming rig

So according to Ubisoft 10gb vram is indeed not enough, is this the point where all the 3080 users complain on how bad the game visually looks like without the game or the HD texture pack being released yet?
*sits back and grabs popcorn*

The kicker is that even if, and its a big if, the game somehow tanked framerate if you dont have 16gb vram when using the HD texture options - chances are the HD texture option makes an extremely small differences to the image quality.

Its like the difference between a .jpeg image and a .raw image - the pros will tell you they can see a difference, the average person can't see it. Same goes for HD texture packs in games

You talking about gfx or the game itself? Div 1 looked good when it came out, the game itself with just one area after another, of opponents that took 300 more bullets to kill than the last area.
.

Graphics, In some early builds of the game there were plans for a lot more indepth FX, Physics, Lighting, Reflections, Higher res textures, Debris etc... but this was reined in due to Ubisofts decision to have parity with the consoles and they've carried this practise forward with all of their newer games which is why they don't really look much different when comparing PC and console.

I just think that people are assuming a lot of stuff without the game or the HD texture pack even being out, there are games where HD texture packs make a noticeable difference (monster hunter, rainbow six siege come to mind, I am sure there is more examples.

One thing is for sure. It will be interesting to see what's what when the game comes out.

Will this be the first game where it pays to have 16GB? Or will it be another case of what was it called (genuinely for the name of the game) AMD sponsored game that needed loads of VRAM for highest setting but still looked **** and the game was ****

My expectations not including FSR:

- amd will have a nice enough lead without any ray tracing, wouldn't be surprised if we see Valhalla kind of difference, probably why they want a beefy CPU as amd can utilise cpu better than nvidia....
- when ray tracing is enabled at max settings whatever that may be..... nvidia will match or beat amd, probably similar to godfall and resident evil village (consoles aren't enabling ray tracing as they want to maintain 4k60 iirc)
- there won't be any stuttering/perf. issues on a 3080 with HD/max textures unless the textures really are jaw dropping good but so far I've not seen anything to make me think that.....

As 99% of PC gamers will have a card that has 8GB or less on it then they wont sell many copies if they programmed the game like that. That said, 99% of gamers are still on 1080p resolution too so higher textures pack wont make a sausage of difference to most. HD = 1080p

which is probably the reason for the HD pack to be optional.

Godfall does use more vram BUT you have to toggle LPM. So for the full (HDR) experience you indeed require extra vram to properly enjoy it. Problem is too many people aren't bothered about spending $3K on a 3090 but have ****** monitors so they don't get it.
