10GB vram enough for the 3080? Discuss..

Not buying one does not mean one can’t buy one though does it? I sold my 3080 for £1620 and could have got a 3090 with it, instead I got a 3070.. Not that I needed to sell something to buy a 3090. Again as I said people see what they want to see.
Course it doesn't as you can scalp to purchase, you could have a win and go out and buy one, could be gifted one, but the specifics I'm on about with the guys laughing at 90 owners, considering I've always I liked the cut of your jib, if you take a step back and think about what I've been saying, logic isn't for everyone though.:p

I think you're completely missing the point as to why we laugh at those owners.... :o

Where's the logic in spending an additional £750 for an extra what? 10-15%, if that..... Which will then be superseded by a mid range xx70 costing £500-600? And what makes it even more ironic is the same people who go on about how nvidia have screwed over people because of the vram yet they are completely oblivious to the fact that the flagship cards are where nvidia consumers get screwed with no lube

As the old saying goes, more money than sense especially when some people are pairing said gpus with weak/old cpus and gaming on inferior displays, right? @TNA ;) :D

That thread was posted before the Crypto boom, I think it was very profitable at one point.

A quick google. ;) Some folk just read what they want to believe, if you dont know - you dont know! If you were any good at googling you would deduce it was very profitable. It still is profitable, at least until end of this month!

Waste of time mate. As I said, minds are made up and they will just see what they want to see. Just look how humbug was coming at me the other day for example. In the end instead of acknowledging he got it wrong he just went silent

No matter how anyone spins it, a 24Gb 3090 owner is looking down on a 10Gb 3080 owner, suppose some 80 users laughing at 90 owners makes them feel better as their gpu isn't the best never mind when it becomes vram intensive...

Besides the fact almost every one of them won't give a flying **** about a £600 gpu replacing it coz they have the means to replace their 90 instantly without so much of the slightest dent to the bank balance, keep justifying it/convincing yourself your onto a winner though.

I don’t get why you are still on about this though. It’s like there is no other arguments left to make and you picked on this to score a goal with or something?

Who here exactly are you talking about anyways? The only two people here as far as I can see with a 3090 engaging in this conversation is grim and gpuerrila. Of which neither of fit the bill of what you are describing from what I know of them. If grim had the kind of money he would have been on the latest Intel cpu instead of crying about his 5950x that barely works on stock settings and smashed his 3090 with a hammer and got a 3090 Ti by now. As for gpuerrilla, well no point me even going there :p

Because I disagree in principle with the the topic in general never mind the mass jump ons-not just this thread- that's a negative?

We will keep going round and round it seems. Coming out with things like “embarrassing, jealousy, envy, insecurity” etc was a bit lol worthy though man. Best to agree to disagree on this occasion and move on ;)

You talk about 3090 owners like they're members of the polo club driving around in porsche's and use £50 notes as toilet paper but the truth is the majority of them only bought the 3090 because they couldn't get a 3080 while most the people who did manage to buy a 3080 could easily afford a 3090 but didn't see the point when the performance bump was meh at best.

^Keep kidding yourself on pal.

Probably, should simply take the point those words were used as a counter to how completely ridiculous the conversation really is in reverse though.:)

Still ok with 10GB.

Only ones continually squealing are folk who've never owned one. Guess I'd have bought a 3090 mid pandemic if I couldn't get a 3080. Whilst I could've easily afforded a 3090 I didn't want to pay double for (at the time of 3090 release) an extra 10% performance.

When the next gen is released, the 2nd hand price of a 3090 wont hold double of a 2nd hand 3080. 2nd hand price uplift will be more relative with their uplift in performance.20% more than a 3080 - max.

Oooh weee TNA is one salty boi

Says the guy that is continually posting in the Alienware QD-OLED thread trying to play down how awesome of a monitor it is because you could not buy one. Sad part is you keep quoting Vincent to make your point, yet he says it is the best gaming monitor period. Salty as ****!

Anyways, you still search for a hammer? Once you find it, don’t stop with smashing your 3090, go ahead and smash your rubbish 5950x while at it :cry::cry:

Same.

The only thing this VRAM argument has taught me is how poorly made some games are.

FC6 wants every bit of available VRAM but looks and plays terrible. Then you get a recent game like GotG, which looks incredible, has a real RT implementation, and doesn’t require some poorly made HD texture pack, yet it barely uses half my VRAM.

Yes, open world vs not, but there are plenty other examples. People shouldn’t be encouraging rushed and poorly made games, and then saying the hardware is the problem.

just to add my review on this...

I have a 3080 10gb and a 3090, difference in games or its ability to load/play them on High (we all know ultra is a waste) is zero.

For anyone thinking it won't be enough if your looking to purchase IMO it'll be fine unless your also using it for blender etc then yeah the 80 could do with a touch more but for gaming its all good :)
