10GB vram enough for the 3080? Discuss..

Don't forget, if the 3080 does end up gimped in any game (due to lack of VRAM), you can always rush out and buy a 3090 ;)

So nVidia has a solution for this problem of their own making :p
He is getting a 3090 from the get go. Lol.

It doesn't say you need 11GB. It's saying you need a 2080ti or more at 4k with RT on. It's not the 11GB that's crucial here but the compute the 2080ti is packing.

Remember a 2080ti is now the same level as a 3070 which is an under £500 GPU. So this sort of power will be in a lot more gamers hands very soon.

As I pointed out if vram was the bottleneck here we would see the Radeon 7 as the top dog gaming GPU. Which it just isn't.
Wasting your breath. Agenda's must be pushed ;)

I'd like to see Watchdog Legions benchmarked at those settings to see if (A) it actually allocates over 10GB (B) there is any performance penalty from having less than 11GB of VRAM (C) what level of VRAM it actually needs vs allocates.

You can bet there won’t be any issue with 10gb vram but hey, some people think
they better troll as much as possible til things are out there in the open.

Nvidia clearly so incompetent that you’ll see with day 1 games how the vram limits the 3080 in comparison to the 2080ti, as if they only hope to sell for a few days until people buy them, test them and storm the forums telling the rest not to buy/ returning their products for full refunds.

You have to live in LaLaLand to believe that scenario. Or to want to be an insufferable troll.

10 gb was never enough and will never be enough for next gen games. 39 pages of debating is waste of time for something most of us knew from the start. Cross gen games recommending 11gb, imagine what will happen with games built exclusively for next gen.

Nvidia wants to sell you a new card next year. Now stop calling people trolls and look at the facts.

It was plenty enough this gen for 4k 60 HDR on my tv or 3440x1440 on my monitor ( rtx 2080 with 8gb ). Not once have i had a Vram issue nor have i heard of anyone else.

10gb will be plenty for next gen too unless you lot think nvidia is incompetent ( and the FEW guys know better, sounds like the default us vs them conspiracy honestly )or that they can supress all the outrage that will come regarding vram issues. Enthusiasts will buy these cards, not casuals, and enthusiasts will be the first ones to cause outrage.

Also they’re not selling me anything, only thing im buying this year is the ps5.

I am concerned about 10GB VRAM not enough on RTX 3080.

RDR2 is one example I cant run at 4K with all options maxed out on RTX 2080 with 8GB VRAM and RTX 3080 10GB will not run 4K maxed out unless I turned down some graphics setting to free up VRAM as RDR2 require 11GB so I am concern the same thing could happen to Watch Dogs: Legion and next generation games with massive textures.

Flight Simulation at 8K will not be enough with RTX 2080 Ti 11GB VRAM but RTX 3080 with 20GB VRAM will do it fine.

RTX 3080 10GB will not enough for Crysis Remastered's Can it run Crysis? 8K Mode benchmark.

This will need RTX 3080 20GB to run 8K.

But seriously who is going to be gaming at 8k?

Wait and pay a lot more for the 20gb 3080 or go AMD ;)

Either that or just lower textures one setting down, problem solved :D

Lowering settings on your brand new next-gen £700 gpu is a tough pill to swallow. Plus textures setting is the last thing I would want to lower when gaming at 4k.

It would be a tough pill to swallow if there was a big enough difference between the highest two texture options. But whenever I have seen or taken screen shots between the two highest there usually is little in it to the point of when playing it will make a small difference. Not saying this is the case in every game by the way, just my observations up until now hence why I think I would be fine with 10gb until hopper arrives.

Obviously for people who must have everything maxed, I recommend them a 3090 :D

As if these cards have the horsepower to run 8k. :D

You may be correct that 10gb isnt enough but without actual testing/results we dont know what the impact is and if your speculation is correct.

The wind-up is paying £650 for a card with 2/5 the VRAM of the top-end card :p

And then paying again a little later to get the higher VRAM variant :p
This! 10GB VRAM might be fine on old games, but on the new games and then next year onwards, I can't take the risk. Why does the high-end card have 24Gb and not even just 20Gb?
