1366 X58 Xeon 5650

think ill just keep it on 3.9 what vcore you think i can go to to keep temp down ?
play bf4 on ultra setting 50fps-70fps + ever better with this hex core :)

sadly all chips are different and temps affect overclock also

The only way to find out is to test and record. so if your stable drop the voltage by one notch and test.

The rule is only change one thing at a time. that way you dont affect other things.

BF 4 hates Ht you will notice it jumps threads a lot hence why no core is 100% loaded (test it with afterburned and see for yourself) I tend to lock games to cores so that isnt an issue.

How am I doing temp wise guys? Bearing in mind it's a very muggy night tonight. Configured vCore in Bios is 1.30. Also, for some reason my xeon is stuck at 4ghz all the time, even when the CPU is idle. CX states enabled in the Bios. Any ideas?

In your post #222 it clearly shows 4.6Ghz that's why I asked.

Yes it does, I was asked to run cinebench r15 and fire strike at those speeds by ALXAndy ;) post #210

I was trying to get 4.9 when i remebered and just dropped the clocks

I added a more normal voltage for you validated. post #227

I like stable oc's much harder work and more rewarding. :D

Just opened mine, CPU "pins" quite a bit of discolouration and thermal paste covering a few up. Am I OK using a TIM remover on both sides or does it need more specialist washing?

So I have just installed a 5650 in my P6T se mobo....

Booted into the bios fine...started windows and got a BSOD DC WATCHDOG VIOLATION...

so I thought I would install windows again

Booted from DVD and went through install fine...when it got to the point of restarting the PC restarted and windows failed to boot.

The only thing I have changed is the CPU from my 920

Bios version 0908

I'm stuck as to what to do next....

All I'm trying to do is install windows 8.1 pro and the 920 was fine.

What's windows not liking about this chip? Is there something in the bios I have missed?

hi easy rider gonna be like q6600's all over again lol

update bios to latest of site

run the load defaults so the new bios can tweak settings and tables we dont see

manually set the ram speed and qpi speed low (1333 or less)

disable any power save features

manually set the cpu voltage to 1.25v

get a herons boot usb image and run some low level tests on cpu mem test etc

will check tomorrow to see how you get on.

good luck
