14900k problem

ME firmware has to be installed before the bios update, and you can't roll back the ME. Not the best scenario.

But I think the fact that the fans aren't spinning points to something different.
More likely a short of some sort that is preventing the system from starting.

Unplug everything from the MB except the CPU PSU and one stick of ram, if you have an old air CPU cooler install it
Hi I have a z690 board I want to update to a 14th Gen cpu, I dont have a cpu in atm since I bought it 2nd hand, looking at the bios description on Asus site, it implies that the Me firmware is updated at the same time.
ROG STRIX Z690-A GAMING WIFI D4 BIOS 3101

Version 3101
14.1 MB 2023/12/29
"1. Improve system stability
2. Update ME to version 16.1.30.2307
3. This update includes the patch for the LogoFAIL vulnerabilities
4. Add PCIe Bifurcation options for GPU with M.2 storage

Updating this BIOS will simultaneously update the corresponding intel ME to version 16.1.30.2307. Please note after you update this BIOS, the ME version remains the updated one even if you roll back to an older BIOS later.

Before running the USB BIOS Flashback tool, please rename the BIOS file (SZ690AD4.CAP) using BIOSRenamer."

is this correct or do i need a 12th Gen cpu to flash it from bios first(bloke who sold it to me didnt update the bios to support after 12th gen)

It sounds like the BIOS update does, but if USB flashback follows exactly the same flash procedure, I don't know.
