top spec cards always have high prices, I don't see what the shock is about

personally, I tend to aim for the £130-200 range cards

Plus release prices are always high to start, simply because some people will pay through the nose to get the latest tech. After a few months the prices will settle to a more reasonable level.

see i told u, u wink on a forum it will cause an armagedon! well i didnt say that but...ye il stop now.

I don't see £320 as a bad price - I paid £340 for my X800XT-PE, £360 for my 8800GTX and almost as much for my 9800XT.

The thing that's clouding the issue for me is do I buy two 5870's and xfire them like I did with my 4870's or do I wait for the 5870x2? I know the x2 will work out cheaper but can I wait a month? Plus, two cards look awesome when they are both put in my watercooling loop (again - two blocks to buy instead of one for the x2 - although the x2 block is usually a lot more expensive. Hmm, what to do, what to do).

Anyhow - nothing is getting ordered until the Corsair TX850 psu comes back in stock :-(

Anoraks and Fanboys please calm down (myslef included) - buy in January and save £££££'s - what's a few months wait for a big saving?.

(aside) Will 95% of you really see any benefit in gameplay over what you have now or do you want to show you're e-peens and play benchmarks? :)

If that was aimed at me, I'm on a large display and require a performance card with good multimonitor support for my multiple displays. Oh and the fact I'm running on an X1900XT..

Eh! someone of us(me) have held off buying a gaming rig for 2 MONTHS solely just to get a system with one of these in, to then find out you will be price out on both cards is how do i say it..............a LET DOWN:(

i was using an Nvidia 7900GT when the 4870/260 etc cards came out and i waited quite a while before purchasing. luckily for me it came with Sapphires new cooler on and @ £140 too.

if these new cards are expensive i'll just wait a few months longer. got xmas and birthday coming up so it might pay for me to wait

You mean you expected cheap prices from release???
Prices will always be high when new tech is released. It's the same all round.
