Yeah, guess it is literally going to be a repeat of 7970 launch... 6970/6950 prices didn't exactly suffer much....

GeForce GTX 680 is going to cost $499. The 7970 will have to occupy some lower spot in that case, probably $449+.

My prediction, the GTX 580 will go down to $399, so will the 7950.
GTX 570 is pretty much obsolete now with cheaper and more efficient GTX 560 Ti 448 cores cards out.

AMD will set up their lower end cards accordingly.

The 1.5GB GTX 580 is already available in the US for around that price.

$399 is a little over £300 with VAT and you can already buy the 1.5GB GTX 580 for a little over or a little under that price from OcUK.

Now if you think the 3GB GTX 580 is going to be $399 that's a different story.

Come to think of it, that might be a bit tricky since 3GB version is in limited supply.

So we can expect some discounts on both GTX580 cards but it's possible it won't be that much, e.g. $349 and $399 accordingly in the best case scenario.

Which is around £265 and £300 respectively.

Seriously what the hell are you guys on about? A 7970 at 1440 doesn't cut it? Really?

I'm playing battlefield on high at 1440 with a 7970/16gbram/[email protected] and have yet to see it go below 45fps. For the majority of the time it's hitting vsync and sticking at 60fps. Crysis 2 on a mixture of extreme and ultra gets the same kind of fps.

It's hardly unplayable. Skyrim on ultra at 1440 with FSAA is at 35-40 which is easily fast enough for that style of game.

High isnt ultra though sadly.

$499 RRP confirmed, with a little price gouging in the US, looks like UK are getting ripped off more than usual if it's over £400

$499 + VAT would be £377.50

So yeah... if the cards are ~£420, as suggested in the other thread, then that's a particularly bad situation (I'm thinking the absence of lube).

Hopefully cards will be available (somewhere) for under £400.

looks like a few people on the members market are getting ready for the 680 today

I am a little dissapointed to see the RRP not being reflected in the UK (£50~ mark up) even $50 mark up would be a little easier to swallow.

Oh well, I will be like a usual Brit and suck it up.

I remember being in Florida a couple of years ago on a Golfing holiday. I took shed loads of money to buy golf clubs. Sadly I came back with shed loads of money because when you converted the prices after adding tax (which they don't show on the price tag), they were no cheaper.

Maybe a different state would be different but nothing to me was cheaper in elec/golf/jewellery.
