£1850 Budget for Gaming Rig, Monitor snd Rift Bundle.

Also @orbitalwalsh I know you select the resolution and things like ultra setting in each game but are there any settings i need to turn on on the pc itself? Ive heard the Nvidia control panel mentioned from time to time, do i need to go in there and turn anything on?

Only a couple of hours to go

@orbitalwalsh sorry mate but ive just been watching sime videos refarding the Aorus 1080ti and the car has two power input connectors? Will i hse them both and will my power supply habe two leads?

Im guessing all parts come with basic install instructions?

Thanks mate.

You will be using both inputs and the PSU will have this covered - breathe easy.

As for instructions - the motherboard will have basic guide for install/setup but the internet/youtube is your friend. Gem up as much as you can and before you start building and then post away for help if you get stuck.

If possible setup outside of the case first - place the motherboard on some cardboard then install:
  • CPU/HS
  • 1 stick memory
  • GPU
  • Connect PSU
  • Monitor
Then jump start the system by briefly touching the PW pins with a screwdriver on the front panel. The system will boot to the BIOS - this way you get to do a preliminary test of the core components before setting up the system in your case.

You can leave the memory and CPU/HS connected when fitting the motherboard into the case (you can hold onto the HS which makes things a lot easier) - disconnect everything else.

This thread may help - i guided dmann through his first build (Ryzen setup) - literally step by step - Clicky.

May help browsing the thread before you start.

And this is another - a long read but covers everything as again i walked beadyroller through the whole process - Clicky

Both builds use the same motherboard - only use them as guides as the BIOS etc will have updated so links may not be valid.

Top mam Plec, thank you mate!! Im watching loads of videos and at times im thinking "this will be a doddle, no problem" then I watch another and it throws a few spanners about and gives me more questions. I will keep the thread updated, thanks again.

@Plec so i start reading that thread and now im worried;)

Ive got windows on a usb stick, I thought that once built, I turn the pc on, put the stick in a usb port and then install windows to the SSD?

Am i supposed to be doing something with the bios, sorry mate but thats confused me?

Edit: I just found some info, am i right in thinking all i need to is check the bios for is that the info is correct, ram ect....and then select boot from usb?

Also you talk about the latest bios version? Should i be downloading that to a seperate usb stick, will my board not be up to date??

Im sure once im done i will be pleased ive done it but...............its a scary thing when youve not done it before!

When the boards first came out you needed to update the BIOS immediately to help with memory compatibility. I personally would still do this but when you do your initial boot check the BIOS version. If it's a relatively recent release - you can roll with it and update later if you run into issues.

BIOS F8 or later ideally - but the latest AGESA update is best to have installed.

Ok mate, nice one.

What about drivers? Do i need to download those first or can i do this once built?

I like having them prepped, ready to go from dedicated sites - e.g. chipset from AMD, GPU from Nvidia and any additional drivers for the motherboard from Gigabyte etc... I would definitely get the dedicated driver ready for your WIFi card.

Others trust windows to do the job - i'm not one of these - i only allow windows to do critical updates and nothing else (and that's if i haven't disabled it altogether) so you will will get conflicting opinions on this.

Oh, and use orbitals way of installing windows:

What I normally do is set boot priority to SSD and with USB stick PLUGGED INTO BACK OF THE BOARD, hit F12 and tell it to boot from USB this once and then install windows .

Others may do it differently, I once set usb to be boot priority one and SSD second and twice with Gigabyte and Asus board , it restarted when installing and wanted me to install it over again and got caught in s loop

Good luck with the build , get some pics up !
Hey, the man himself - i'm going out for a few hours but if you get stuck holler - there's usually someone floating about that can help, and if @orbitalwalsh is in you're in good hands.

If you read those threads you should have a pretty clear idea of what lies ahead of you - but each first build experience is different so don't expect the same problems or even the same ease of build...

Best of luck - i'll search out the thread later and if you're having problems i'll jump in if needed. But usually it's best to follow one members advice so you don't get confused as we can have different ways of doing the same thing...

Thanks @orbitalwalsh @Plec

When installing windows do i plug the usb stick into any usb socket and set boot priority to ssd and then press f12 while still in the bios screen?

Getting scared now lads;) delivery is due in about 40 minutes and I have a table booked for half 2 for lunch.

Once back (about half 3 ish) I will post some pics and start!!

When jump starting the ststem out of the case with the screwdriver? This sound scarey as hell!! Can i not blow everything up? Myself include lol??

Plug in stock at the back end of the Mobo /case.
Go into bios, set boot priories and the save and exit.
Then when the splash screen or logo screen appears with options to press, I believe its F12 with Aorus with get you the option to boot from a specific drive, select the USB

@orbitalwalsh @Plec

All the bits have arrived, do you need to use image hosting sites for overclockers??

One quick question, ive noticed the ssd and hdd dont come with leads to connect them to the motherboard, are these in with the motherboard?

Yes, IMGUR usually works well.

Your motherboard will come with a couple of leads.

@Plec @orbitalwalsh

Cool, I will have enough leads for everything wont I? A build video I see earlier.the guy bought a bag of connector leads?

Use imgur , photobucket you have to pay .

Should have 2/3 SATA cables in Mobo box :)

Take care with Ryzen CPU . Has the pins of on the bottom , make sure you insert it the right way up .
Mobo manual will tell you - can remember off top of my head and kids are awake so can't take a snap for you
