New Gaming Rig Advice..

Went down a right treat :D
When my wife arrives, i'll have an apt response (but suspect i'll be stuffing my face) - but until that time...

Oh, Maaaan!!!
Did you know Lidl have IPA box selection, 12 bottles for £14
No, we don't have a local Lidl - i beginning to think this moving to the country has certain disadvantages. £1.17 bottle @ 500ml?

We have a local store run by volunteers (rich ladies with too much spare time on their hands) - BUT - they sell St Austells and Dartmoor Brewery beer which by fluke are my favourite beers - so i have 4 assorted bottles (well 1 now) 2 of HSD and 2 Jail Ale - and if you haven't tried either stulid i really recommend you do. Jail Ale being my favourite.

I refuse to mention how much the 4 bottles cost as i fear my curry trump card will be screwed with your bargain beer purchase :/

yes 500ml.
God damn it!

I'm actually going to to go to the shops with my wife on Saturday (that will confuse her) - I think there's a Lidl close to where she shops that or an Aldi(?). I'm going to do some beer hunting - as that is a nuts price for premium beer.

You may have trumped my curry (which wasn't difficult as it's not arrived yet :/) - but the chance of cheap premium beer; worth it. Cheers.

I've just looked at the time - i think my chances of getting a curry are getting smaller by the minute - literally.

Did it arrive?

Nope - her meeting overran and understandably too knackered to queue. M&S ready meal - forgettable mushroom pasta thingy.

I think I lost that round big time... :)

Still, your first build tomorrow - what game do you plan to test with it first?

Not sure really, think it's going to be Player Unknowns Battlegrounds!

Everything has been delivered apart from the motherboard which I bet is delivered while we all have to go out in a short while knowing my luck. Got a Funeral to attend.

Was thinking, can I boot up from my SSD (Windows 10 is already on there) on the new system, try get the Windows key then do a clean install with the USB stick? Similar to what we did on my brother's PC. Would save me buying a new key then.

For testing purchases i would perhaps choose a 'non early access game' :p

Sorry, Beady, my condolences.

You could connect the drive to your bother's computer and use Produkey

First take delivery, sign and give back the delivery guy his pen - they get p*ssed if you try and keep it.

Then carefully open... :p

Haha. Literally just taking the case out of the box. Going to attach the Power Supply first.. looks to be a little bracket that goes on it with the S340 then it slides in..

Note:

Don't use any Gigabyte board chipset drivers - get straight from AMD (they include their own power plan now within windows). I'll provide link when/if you need it.

Same for Nvidia drivers.

When CPU is in situ (the MB) clean the top of the CPU with your isopropyl alcohol (not totally necessary - habit of mine, gets rid of greasy finger prints). No need to touch the HS as it should have pre-applied TIM.

Really struggling to get this IO shield in...
Not unusual - they can be a bitch to fit.

Just take your time - you don't want to buckle it.

And be absolutely sure it's orientated the right way - as if it's tough to fit you'll be really p*ssed if you have to refit :)
