Guys I have already said this several times. The delidded chips we supply will all be binned and full warranty with Ocuk.

We have worked closely with Intel regarding this. I have several projects currently running with Intel and this is one of them.

Ocuk and myself also work closely with AMD but currently the work we are doing with them is all strictly NDA.

Wooohooo now I'm excited! 8Pack tweaked AMD Zen bundles should be a thing of beauty! :)

As some say intel have cheaped out yet again, can you explain why they don't just use the different TIM anyway rather than this process having to be done ? Obviously not everyone wants the ultimate clock processor but surely if they just use a different TIM then everyone's happy ? :). Obviously intel are aware of this as you're working closely with them, so know it can be improved on. Why cant they do an overclockers special with the better TIM ?

For the same reason they don't offer i5/i7 at 4.4GHz. They supply K chips with the ability to be pushed, and how we push them is up to us.

I don't think you need any insider knowledge to work this out. Intel use lower quality thermal compound because it is cheaper and I'm guessing the majority of their customers won't notice or care.

If OCUK are offering delidded CPUs it will be because the thermal compound intel used is not the most effective available - there would be no point in doing it otherwise.

So to put it another way OCUK are selling delidded CPU's at a premium making money out of a shoddy job done by Intel (again). What makes it worse is that OCUK seem to have contacted Intel and Intel are okay with it.

Business is business and fair play to OCUK jumping on a money making opportunity and offering a warranty I`m sure people will buy the product. Do OCUK also offer warranty on any CPU's delidded using the device they sell ? Probably not.

I guess it's a question of cost benefit for Intel. If every single user buying a K version cpu wanted to push it as far as possible, then economically it would make sense for Intel to use better TEM. But I'd say the vast majority of people may not even bother to try and overclock it at all.

So now ocuk are filling the gap in the market but delidding the best cpu's.

Just my thoughts, probably wrong.

If you read the thread 8 pack mentions numerous times that the delidded CPUs will have a warranty with OcUK.

Would the warranty cover a delidded CPU running bare naked under a wc block or air cooler?

That could be worthwhile as I see little point in relidding and having two TIM interfaces to contend with.

You going to be selling theses as individual CPU's or will they simply be used for you pre-built systems?

I have delidded a few chips myself, but obviously the thought of buying a delidded chip with warranty is attractive - as long as the premium attached isn't ludicrous!

I'm guessing it's no more expensive, maybe ever cheaper, to just go X99, which already have soldered heat spreaders.

Who is doing the binning? If it's done by Intel, and OcUK (etc) are getting the best K CPUs for this project, then it means everybody else gets worse odds in the silicon lottery.

Ie, you already know your retail K CPU isn't one of the better performers, because they go elsewhere...

Gibbo already explained how ocuks binning works a few posts back....

We explained the binning till we are blue and white in the face. No this is not how it works.

Only system Oem stock is ever tested. The lesser bins going into non overclocked machines typically used in office pcs or similar.

Intel are not binning anything for anyone
