19" Acer AL1916W Widescreen Silver/Black

hmm didn't realise how much the number of pixels increased on my new WS 2025.

I was using 1280 x 1024 on my 17inch tft, now at native res on this screen...

1280x1024=1310720 pixels
1680x1050=1764000 pixels

Think i'm seeing why i get pretty low FPS in Ironforge (WoW) at peak times.

And if you run it at a lower (not native) resolution, what do you think of the image quality? ie: A CRT wouldn't care, but LCDs obviously don't like being run at non-native res.

Well, went and got one today.

Got it off that auction site mind, paid £120 for it.

Its only a month old as well.

Methinks i've got a bargain, will be setting it up later on tonight as am moving.

Also, as of tonight i wont have net connection, so is there anything i should download to help me with this monitor before i wont have a chance? (setting tools etc)

hmmn quite what that has do with this thread, nobody knows..... :p

but the added resolution of a 20" is what put me off getting one. instead i got a 19incher (not the acer) which actually has less pixels on it than the very common 1280x1024.... ;)

1440x900=1296000

Hi,

Didn't think this was aorth starting a new thread for, I just have a quick Q.

This is is my set up

Pentium 4 1.6 GHZ
MSI MS-6524/G v1.0
512MB RAm

I don't know that much about computers, my friend put this together for me a while ago. What I want to know is, is there any reason that the Acer monitor wouldn't work on this set up?

Cheers

Ian

not really. You haven't listed your graphics card there, but given that it is a pretty modern PC you should have no problems

I don't remember, I think it might be onboard graphics. I'm at work now so I can't check.

thanks

Can anyone supply me the dimensions of the panel with bezel and control 'bit' for this screen

Thanks

Jon
So the whole monitor then? Well... <pulls out measuring tape>

Width: 17.5"/45 cm
Height: 11.5"/30cm (12.25"/32cm with controls)
Depth: 2.5"/6cm

Those are a bit rough, but about right. (give or take)

Hi im thinking of getting one of these tft`s and i want it for pc gaming, but was also wondering if it would take my xbox 360 as i would like to play that on it to.

Thanks.

@ runningman

I think this is a highly recommended screen to use amongst xbox users. :)

Only problem really is that there is only 1 x vga input on this monitor.

One more question, it says to make sure your video card can support a display of the native 1440 by 900 resolution or 16:10 rather than the more standard 16:9, Now the card i have is a radeon 9800XT Would this be ok ?

Thanks.

dunno how to remove logo but I think my problems stem further than that.lol

I had my monitor returned from acer only to find that someone really does'nt know how to pack. The tft stand itself was sandwiched between the inner box and the panel. To do that they have to put the screen in the 2 pieces of foam the wrong way to get the screen facing that way in the first place. Thus, resulting in a scratched panel (think its just the polarised film) and a scratched bezel. Lovely!!

My experiences with acer so far have been pretty poor. Monitor was picked up today so we shall see what sort of turn around I get.

My experience with Acer/Esplex is not good.
Sent my 19inch back for repair, they had it for 4 weeks came back badly packed and with the same fault.
Now it's back again, they have at last found the fault ( Panel duff ) they tell me they are waiting for a new panel to arrive, that was 3 weeks ago with no indication from Esplex as to when I will get my it back. 7 weeks and waiting!!
Acer/Esplex have had the monitor longer than I have.
For me, Acer, never ever again.
Phillips monitors look good, anyone?

I want a monitor to use for Tv/films rather than for gaming, is this monitor OK for that?
I have heard things metioned about certain types of monitor not being great for this use because of viewing angles etc.

Just like to sasy - I've owned my Acer for about 6 weeks now and I have very few complaints. However a few minor niggles:

-The AC power lead sometimes works loose and needs plugging in again.
-It takes about 3 seconds to start up because of that stupid Acer splash screen
-the paint is easily chipped - a small mark appeared on the front of the frame after my last LAN party.

Other than that, I strongly recommend it to everyone in the market for a budget TFT. :)
