Don't know much at all bout the London elections and don;t live there so only want the comedy of Boris, at others expense
Brown was built up as some kind of second coming of labour, revitalising their flagging fortunes and improving the country with a masterplan that he had been finely crafting for 10 years. So far he seems to have achieved nothing, and I am left wondering what he did for all those years whilst he waited for Blair to step down. Perhaps a huge loss over the next few days will convince a few people in power that he is nothing more than the sidekick who wanted the power and limelight for himself, and replace him with someone more suitable for the job.

They can replace Brown with whoever they want to and I think they would still lose.
The reason being, they just don't listen to the voters any more and seem to think that no-one's opinion apart from theirs count.
They have lost the faith of the public who are now voting them out in a lot of local councils.

Have you noticed that most of the Boris supporters live outside of London?
And you realise what happens in london filters down to the rest of the country. Like congestion charging.

I think Borris plays the buffoon hand a bit - I really don't think he's as lacksadaisical as he comes across. Brian Pillock well I don't think he's got the minerals for it, Ken's a **** and needs to be got rid of, and the others are just dodgy, the lesser of all evils is Borris. TBH we don't need a mayor in London IMO there's just no need.
Anyway London's a **** city most of the time anyway so it can't be made any worse, but we just need Ken out - the socialist/communist/dictatorial state he's trying to run London along with his cronie of similar values Brown. I just want both of them the **** out of my face.

Brian Paddick has generally come across quite well during the campaigns, certainly as a person seems the best candidate. Boris will hopefully win though, it's the only way of getting rid of Ken. What's fantastic is that the tories now control more than three times the number of councils that labour do

Well with the massive Conservative gains in the local elections, it seems the London Major vote is only going one way, Boris.
This man will not run a single thing as major, he will be told exactly what to do and say.

Wish I'd put some money down on Boris when he was 6/4 back in Sep 2007. Anyway I think you'r wrong about Boris being a puppet.

I'd rather a puppet in terms of the conservatives as a whole running London than the dictatorship seen under Livingstone.

Because we had enough of the Thatcher and Major years.
The 1997 election was a great event; it was a real turning point for the good in this country. The country is a better place overall since the Conservatives were last in charge.
However, things have slowly been getting worse and perhaps 10 years is just slightly to long for the same people in charge.
If Gordon Brown had reinvigorated Labour then perhaps we'd all vote Red again but he hasn't.
