Thank Christ we kept the lily livered left out at the last election, I can just imagine that loony shower welcoming these moochers in with open arms.

you've got it backwards though they did those things because they were hired to do those things not because they had an agenda of their own.

Fingers in many pies! ;)

And that's from 5 years ago.

The has to be a plan to this, because I cannot for the life of me remember a time in history when people tried to invade a country and said country, just all stood around like muppets scratching heads.

It has to stop and if that means bloodshed so be it.

The stupid teachings of the past few generations have taught kids to value every human no matter where they from. BS period everyone has a personal agenda either good or bad we all have one.
Some peoples agendas are about pure exploitation which is what these migrants agendas are.

They trying to invade our borders to exploit our over generous system of looking after people.

Do we want a gang of exploiters in our country, or do we make a stand and stop it now.

Problem is what the hell can we do, all fine and well being armchair warriors and all but..... hands tied. :(

I personally think the solution is quite simple. There are 3 opinions that seem to be quite predominant here: let them in, we don't really care, and shoot them. So basically we have 2000 people that the 'let them in' brigade could house and shelter at their cost - if they are not willing to put their money where their mouth is and just subscribe to some social NIMBYism then we can let the people who want to shoot them put their money where their mouth is and actually shoot them without expecting everyone else to do their dirty deeds. Everyone else has said they don't give a flying youknowwhat so they can't moan either way. Least this way the people who say they want something have to follow it through themselves rather than passing the buck onto someone else. All sorted and quite simple.

So removing the emotive argument here we have a massive problem with immigration and the resources they would take from an already crumbling health and social care system. The obvious and simple answer here is to restrict the access to those systems, eg making them privately run, thereby removing the incentive to come to this country and enabling that those who do need help have the opportunity to pay for it. Now I wonder why someone hasn't already thought about this ...

You surely can't be saying the only way to restrict access to healthcare systems is by making it private?

There was no 2000 people though. The Eurotunnel statement was misleading and pounced upon by the press.

It was a repeated attempt by a few hundred migrants, not 2000 in one night.

Asked if he would use the word 'swarm', Mr Farage told BBC Radio 4's Today programme: 'No. No, I'm not seeking to use language like that.

But barely an hour earlier, Mr Farage had used the term himself, telling ITV's Good Morning Britain: 'A couple of times I've been stuck on the motorway surrounded by swarms of potential migrants to Britain.'

LOL. Stay classy, Farage.

:p

Whilst we have a serious humanitarian issue on our doorstep, and social services at breaking point here on the mainland, our politicians are having a semantics debate about the word "swarm".

"Swarm" was probably not the best choice of words, albeit sums up what most sane minded people are thinking.

Lib Dem leader more out of order IMHO, describing the migrants as "Desperate". Yeah, desperate to get to the UK and get on the social, council flat etc. All the bleeding hearts still seem to miss the point that these aren't asylum seekers fleeing persecution or peril, therefore should have been dealt with (i.e. sent back) at their port of entry into Europe. The fact they are prepared to pursue their cause with aggressive and criminal behaviour should be evidence of that.

Not sure how effective the new fencing sent by Britain will be - even if 12ft palisade - unless the political will is there to also run 500 volts through it.

Closing the Chunnel unlikely to happen as we no longer have anything like enough ferries in service to cater for all traffic and the old rail/sea/rail infrastructure to cater for Eurostar passengers has long since gone (Calais & Boulogne Maritime stations etc.).

From my very simplistic view three things need to happen:
The affected areas in Calais need to be secured using military force if necessary.
The French Government needs to dismantle all the camps round up the migrants and start shipping them back. At the same time all EU countries need to revisit Schveningen and look at putting border controls back in.
The UK needs to remove the welfare incentive for these people with immediate effect - aid will be limited to immediate humanitarian assistance on arrival followed by summary deportation.

Remove the attraction for coming here and the support mechanism for doing so and publicise this fact in the countries of origin too.

Couldn't agree more Vern1961. These are not asylum seekers, otherwise they would settle in the first port of call. The message needs to get back that we will not accept economic migrants from outside the EU, unless through the proper channels.

Also, shouldnt the whole of the EU be providing camps at the point of entry? Including the UK of course.

Don't know why they don't send in some riot police and tear gas to repel what is a mob handed attack / breach of security. Eventually they will turn back and disperse into French society until the French realise they need to take action on letting this influx occur in the first place.
