No official reason seems to be published anywhere yet...
I can barely remember a time it had any.
Strange decision, one that didnt effect the outcome of the race. When the rain came down there was only ever going to be one winner. The penalty has gone to Kimi to make it look even.

This has got to be some seriously late april fools joke.
I hope McLaren get a chance to appeal and properly fight this.
After all the BS last season too, I really hope Hamilton takes the title this year. Although Hamilton hasn't been the true Messiah he was all hyped up to be, he is still a very capable driver and has shown some great talent. He is very deserving of this title after this penalty. I hope Ferrari blow up for the next 5 races. At least McLarens drivers try and have a personality and support their fanbase.

thought it would be 25 second penalty since that is what Glock got (i know for different reasons)
If it had happened earlier in the race, he may have got a drive through for it, i honestly dunno. At first i thought it was ok cos Hamilton was giving the place back, but he barely gave it back.
Although, he had no reason to cut the chicane in the first place imo. I am sure if it had been a brick wall there or gravel trap, LH would have managed to keep it on the race track.
I dunno if it is a good or bad decision. I know a few years ago they where going to have 1 steward who went to all the races to try keep some consistency, is this still the case?

Just to qualify - I think it was inappropriate for LH to just 'skip' the chicane, when blatently he could have turned in and would have been 'significantly' behind KR at the first corner. A good decision not being seen so by a totally biased public!

But it was fine for Raikonnen to use the run off to gain speed and slingshot on another section of the track?
