He cut the chicane is the reason.

Thats it, not that he overtook Raikkonen then gave him the place back then overtook again...

Just cutting the chicane.

Cutting the chicane doesn't carry a penalty unless you gain an unfair advantage, so how is that the reason?

t was NOT "JUST" cutting the chicane - as he followed procedure in giving place back - its what happened after...

Excellent decision, loving it :-)

Just to qualify - I think it was inappropriate for LH to just 'skip' the chicane, when blatently he could have turned in and would have been 'significantly' behind KR at the first corner. A good decision not being seen so by a totally biased public!

Says the Ferrari Fanboy lol.

It seems the FIA have taken calls for concistency a little too literally. 25 second penalty for a driver who passed under yellow flags... a dangerous thing... and the same penalty for a drive who missed a chicaine by trying to race his rival legitimately... yeah I can see how they are the same.

...
Although, he had no reason to cut the chicane in the first place imo. I am sure if it had been a brick wall there or gravel trap, LH would have managed to keep it on the race track.
...

Watch the footage again. Raikenen clearly moves right over forceing either an accident/damage or LH to cut the chicane.

He didn't have much choice in the matter from what I saw

I don't understand really why Hamilton has got the penalty, I thought it maybe for the scuffle on the final turn into the pit straight but Hamilton gave up his position because of it. What doesn't make sense is the 1st and 2nd positions changed place a few times afterwards because both cars slipped off the track. Surely the previous scuffle would be written off as no one really gain a position.

When he let Kimi back past he stayed pretty close behind, not saying thats a valid reason, but looking at it that way, you could just completely overshoot a corner to get past someone, then let them back through and stick to their gearbox. Therefore gaining an advantage.
