Hamilton decided to go out ahead of Alonso instead. Ron Denis was allegedly fuming at this. Hamilton allegedly swore at Ron Denis. .
Which is exactly why it WASNT necessary for Alonso to do anything, Dennis was obviously very angry and would have done what was necessary to make sure that kind of thing never happened again, but Alonso had to take it into his own hands and become as petty as LH was in that incident
I wouldnt expect some young upstart to get the better of me. .
LH had been getting the better of Alonso all season completely fairly, he should have been used to it by the time of this incident
I find it amusing though that you are defending Hamilton's actions by saying, "2 wrongs dont make a right", even though Hamilton was the guy who started it all..
Read my first sentence - I quite clearly am not defending LH's actions on that day, but FA should have left it in the hands of RD (after all FA blocking LH only made RD even more angry of which some was rightly directed at FA - which would have been the opposite if he had stayed completely out of it.
I doubt he will do anything on the track. He has no history of this sort of thing (unlike MS, Senna or Prost) and I dont see it starting now. He is playing mind games with Hamilton and Hamilton will definitely be weary of Alonso as a result. Hamilton isnt mentally as strong as say an Alonso or MS. This is why we see pressure getting to Hamilton, regularly. Alonso knows this.
He has never been sacked from a team before either, never been routinely humiliated by a rookie - both of which happened last year
(legally maybe he wasnt sacked, but effectively thats what it was)
LH is not mentally weak in any way shape or form, yes occasioanlly he makes a mistake (but the god-like FA never does that of course)
Maybe at the beginning of the season that MIGHT be a valid comparison, but LH doesnt need to fight Alonso anyway (at worst with FA infront of him , LH is fourth - as Trulli wont be able to run at the front for long) - and Alonso cant try and force LH backwards by going slow without risking being blitzed at a pitstop and being made to look stupid (wouldnt be the first time)
Not really highly likely, if drivers are seen to be purposefully ramming other cars, to put them out of the race etc, i think the punishment would be not being allowed to race. They just can;t let things like that go on.
An anyway, what makes you think alonso would do such a thing, yes he and hamilton don;t see eye to eye. But alonso would have to be out of his mind to do something that silly and jepordise his career.
"Sorry Mr Steward, my front wing end plate caught his tyre mid turn, there was nothing I could do"
Stewards could easily classify anything as a racing incident - Especially because Alonso hasnt done anything particularly bad before
As Ive stated many times before, the only reason MS had his points taken away in 97 was because of 94 (or certainly that in no way helped the situation), without 94 I honestly dont think the FA would have done anything apart from a slap on the wrist (as JV continued anyway and MS ended up beached)
Lets say Hamiltons going longer ok? So that means hell be heavier.
Alonso and Trulli are probably light-ish so theyll be off the line fairly fairly quickly. My guess is, Trulli will stay ahead of Hamilton and perhaps Alonso and Kovi may actually get past Hamilton because of a lighter car, thus just slowing Hamilton up.
Not to mention that Hamilton has not been stellar when other cars are around him of late (i.e. messing up corners etc). So to be honest its not clear sailing for Hamilton and he really needs to keep his head about him. I said before that this championship is not Massas to win, its Hamiltons to lose. And this cannot be even true moreso than right now.
I think that this is THE defining moment of Hamiltons career. Last year he was in a 3 way fight. This year its a straight duel. Its crunch time.
LH doesnt need to worry about Trulli, by the first pit stop (which HAS to be majorly early for Toyota to get Trulli there anyway) he -Trulli- will be out of the reckoning
Even if FA does get past the two McLarens - he HAS to race at full pace rather than try and edge LH backwards without risking being blitzed at a pitstop, not to mention that the McLaren is -with equal fuel loads - a little bit faster and more efficient than the Renault, which probably means over that last third of the track , going up the hill to the finish and to the first corner LH should be able to be faster if he can get up close to Alonso to follow him thru the preceeding corner
If its a clear race or has light rain then the Ferrari's should be ok and will race into a one - two , if its heavy rain then the red cars dont stand a chance and LH will blitz them, along with the rest of the field
