2008 Canadian Grand Prix - Race 7/18

sunama - you say Heikki is way behind this weekend. Look at the grid right now - Alonso and Rosberg are 4th and 5th. Are they honestly there on raw speed, or low fuel? I'm guessing that they aren't exactly weighed down with fuel....

That leaves Hamilton, Kubica, Raikkonen and Massa ahead on merit. Well, shoot - you'd kind of expect that, wouldn't you? Raikkonen is a world champion, Massa is on a serious run of good results, Hamilton is Hamilton, and Kubica is just outstanding this year. We'll see when the fuel strategy plays out just how far behind those front runners he actually is.

Electronics problem. He had to change steering wheels certainly, not sure what the specific issue was.

So, what Heikki at all to blame?

As for him not covering himself in glory that weekend, he wasn't alone there. Two world champions managed to make a meal of it all. Monaco can be a lottery at the best of times, and when the car isn't 100% these days that just spells trouble.

Alonso was terrible. Thats one of the worst races Ive seen from him and I will give you that one.

Kimi - he put his wheels on a damp patch, which couldve happened to anyone. I still feel that he is an erratic driver though and shouldve been further up the field. Wet weather racing isnt his thing.

Well, without knowing the specific issue....and I can't exactly call McLaren up and ask. But he'd do well to accidentally break the steering wheel electronics....they aren't all that fragile.

Muchly obliged :)

He stacked it at exactly the same place DC did in qually, presumably doing almost the same thing - the car gets light on that 'hump' in the road just on the edge of the braking zone. DC found the wall, Kimi kept it out of the wall and hit Sutil instead.

Does my memory deceive, or did DC manage to spin there in the '97 race as well? I've got this image of him being backwards just at the entry to the chicane, and Mika getting taken out in the mess that it caused.

I tell you what, if Heikki finishes either ahead or only a few seconds behind Hamilton, ON MERIT (ie. not Kimi ran into the back of Hamilton, damaged Hamilton's car and Hamilton started to go backwards and got overtaken by Heikki), in the Canadian GP, then I will completely lay off Heikki for the rest of the season. Thats how confident I am of Heikki's point scoring ability.

I just cant understand why he is at McLaren, bearing in mind that they dont have the best car and cant afford to have 2nd rate drivers scoring 2pts/race.

Doubt that'll happen tomorrow, to be honest. So you can make that promise all you like, you're in no danger of having to keep it :)

1) He won't challenge Hamilton.
2) He won't fall out with Ron.
3) He won't challenge Hamilton.
4) He's actually got some measure of talent, even though he has no luck.
5) He won't challenge Hamilton.
6) He won't send incriminating e-mails regarding data obtained by nefarious means.
7) He won't challenge Hamilton.

As for McLaren not having the best car....maybe. Depends on the track, I'd say. The Ferrari still wasn't exactly epic at Monaco, qually notwithstanding. And the McLaren has hardly been a donkey at any race this year, even when Hamilton had his Bahrain horror show.

Hahaha. Alonso, PDLR and the other McLaren employees got complacent. LEAVE NO EVIDENCE. And if you have communicated via email, then delete those emails. Failing that, destroy the hard drives/servers that are storing those emails.

You cant blame Alonso or PDLR, here.

Monaco is a drivers circuit. A wet Monaco will certainly allow a fast driver in a slow car to beat the slow driver in a fast car. Thats what happened at Monaco. Until Massa's "off", he was doing well. As for Kimi - he hates wet weather.

Ferrari still have the best car, though some circuits do suit the McLaren, especially in the hands of Hamilton.

They attempted overnight repairs before, and they still broke up.

I quite like the the circuit, but this can't keep happening.

Lewis is fuelled light. Heikki is fuelled heavy.

So that McLaren can be assured of a points finish with either one of their drivers just in case there is a SC mayhem...

That's my current opinion

This is Hamilton's track :) cant wait for the race , the qually was awesome yesturday!!

I'd say Heikki is in for a great race. Providing he doesn't have bad luck again he is almost certain to take Rosberg and Alonso at the least. He may get a run at Massa too.

There is going to be some SC for sure I reckon which will bunch the field up and it will play into the hands of Heikki quite well. LH on the other hand is set for a tough day. He has nothing to gain but a lot to lose right now. LH's advantage in qually (finding a new line through the hair pin) may not be needed on the resurfaced track (assuming it lasts) so the Ferrari's may be able to hunt him down.

The real question is Kubica. Is he going to give LH a challenge or two. And how much trouble will Alonso and Rosberg cause for the guys that should have been in the top 4?

I think Alonso and Rosberg are running light
