2008 Canadian Grand Prix - Race 7/18

Been well away from the computer, so I apologise if I go over old ground.

Some thoughts on the race:

1) What in flying ****-land was The Great And Glorious Messiah™ up to in the pit lane? Did McLaren not get on the horn and say "you might want to back off a touch bud, the guys who didn't come in are still streaming by"?
2) Karma for Kimi, huh? He takes Sutil out, Hamilton takes him out.
3) I expect Kubica will quietly forget this story.
4) And wasn't it nice to hear a new (for F1) anthem on the podium? :)
5) Kubica leads the championship, Massa and Hamilton equal. Interesting times.
6) Well done DC. Well done Glock.
7) And well done stewards, for bringing out the safety car with no real need and causing the mess that took out Raikkonen and Hamilton. Really. Congratulations, jackasses.
8) sunama - I'd like to bring up a previous quote if I may:

I tell you what, if Heikki finishes either ahead or only a few seconds behind Hamilton, ON MERIT (ie. not Kimi ran into the back of Hamilton, damaged Hamilton's car and Hamilton started to go backwards and got overtaken by Heikki), in the Canadian GP, then I will completely lay off Heikki for the rest of the season.

Well, it wasn't Kimi running into the back of Hamilton. Quite the opposite in fact! And technically, Heikki did finish ahead of Hamilton today even if neither of them got points.

So, you sticking to that quote or doing a JRS and immediately forgetting you ever made the promise? :D

Aaaarrggghhhh they arent going to show DC because theyre going to run out of time!

IIRC coulthard votes for home rule for scotland. Whether thats good news or bad news for britain I dont know, but Ive never supported him as being british.

Scotland is in Britain. British. Besides my mother is Scottish so I am half allowed to support him.

Either the BMW drivers are slouching, or DC is enormous compared with them....

so why are they leading the WDC and only 3 points behind in the Constructors? ;)

because they've finished every race both lewis and kimi have only finished 5 out of 7. That doesn't mean it will stay like that. I would be very surprised if Kubica keeps up with them over an entire season. However They will stay up with them in the constructors.

Wheres sunama when you want a few choice quotes from him ;)

Really happy for Kubica cos hes F1s future and kept it neat, tidy and fast - amazing turnaround between him and Heidfield in the last few races - Heidfield looks like a no2 driver atm (undeservedly)...

ps3ud0

but to keep up in the constuctors they will need to keep up in the WDC to get the points

So wait...let me get this straight. You begrudge someone who has trained all their life to be at the position they are now because they make lots of money doing what they do best. I suppose people like Beckham are exempt? Oh and not forgetting Coulthard and Button who live in Monaco (another tax haven).

I roughly get taxed between £1200 - £1300 a year...if i was taxed £100,000 a year out of even a massive wage i'd go to Monaco especially if I knew my hard work went partially to Gordon Brown.

And yes I brown nose him, and by God I am proud of it. Anyway Coulthard is third which is a good result for Britain.

your the one complaining that we "pushed" him to leave the uk because we dont support him. when the only reason he left was because of money... that was our point.

anyway have a nice day.

[pro-Hamilton excuse]

He wouldn't have won without the stupid safety car and the stupid red light and without Kimi and Kubica parking at the end of the pitlane.

[/pro-Hamilton excuse]

In all seriousness - he really wouldn't have won without that safety car. But that's how these things go sometimes. Hamilton has ridden his luck an awful lot. Sometimes it runs right out, and today was one of those days. Though I would love to know if McLaren were warning him about the red light in the pits....
