2008 Chinese GP - Race 17/18

Oh well, so Hamilton has to finish less than 6th to lose the championship :D ?
(Presumably Hamilton has a stronger countback?)

Massa and Hamilton now have 5 wins each, but Hamilton has 2 2nds to Massa's 1

edit no wait - Massa finished 2nd - arg

ok wins - 5 each
2nd - 2 each
3rd - 3-2 to Hamilton

Alonso taking a step back to congratulate him. I must say, this media spin on paddock tantrums and bad mouthing can't be as vindictive as it comes across.

Lewis finishing a race in MS style. Calm, restrained and dominating. I'd rather he had to do some overtaking and real driving to get the win but you can't argue with his ability to this weekend. Brazil will have me decided whether he is a worthy driver. Doesn't matter if he takes the title, but if he does he better do it properly.

Congrats to Hamilton for winning the race and the 2008 World Championship. I know that sounds slightly premature, but come on - it'll take an absolute disaster to befall him in Brazil for him to lose it from here. And if he did....well, then he doesn't deserve to win one ever.

I haven't read back through the thread, but was it just me who was completely bored by the 'race' today? Apart from Trulli getting turned around at the first corner, Heikki's puncture and Kimi letting Massa by I can barely remember anything from it already bar the order that the top 4 finished in. And we would have seen the top 4 in qually translate to the top 4 in the race if the aformentioned swap between Kimi and Massa hadn't occurred.

Massa can do nothing except go flat out in Brazil if he wants a chance at nicking the title now. But given how little all-out pace he showed today....nah. Hamilton has this one in the bag, folks.

You have to laugh really, racing incidents seem to be getting punished left right and centre lately yet artificially massaging the result is deemed to be OK.

My thoughts too.

Btw. Alonso Vs. Heikki first few laps there was some wheel to wheel action.
But yes apart from that I wouldve rather watched a kettle boil.

If by "artificially massaging the result" you're referring to the Ferrari swap....well, given that the FIA allowed McLaren to stage-manage the '07 Monaco race (and Ron admitted that they'd done that post-race) it would be a bit off to punish Ferrari for it now.
