2008 Chinese GP - Race 17/18

Those who are moaning about Kimi letting Massa by - how on Earth would you feel if drivers were still allowed to hand over their cars to team mates like they could pre-'58? :)

Bit of a boring race, but a job well done by Hamilton. I feel sorry for Kovalainen, it was his fault he was so slow but that puncture was unlucky.

Had to laugh at the reactions Fisichella got from other drivers, "about as popular as a toothache today".

I'm not complaining about Raikkonen moving over, Kovalainen did similar for Hamilton earlier on in this season if I remember correctly. Although it is racing, it's also a team sport and I don't think there was much wrong done by Raikkonen even though you could say that technically it is against the rules.

how many times did they just forget raikkonen existed in that race.. Kept missing him out when reading the order out. Press conference was amusing just for the awkward questions,

and behold, my prediction came true - Sutil was a DNF

If by "artificially massaging the result" you're referring to the Ferrari swap....well, given that the FIA allowed McLaren to stage-manage the '07 Monaco race (and Ron admitted that they'd done that post-race) it would be a bit off to punish Ferrari for it now.
Please stop drawing comparisons with Monaco last year. All McLaren did then was to tell them to hold station and that Lewis shouldn't try to pass Alonso. Yes, Lewis may have been faster but it's still almost impossible to overtake there and they didn't want to risk a collision.

Totally different kettle of fish to one driver moving aside and gifting his teammate a place.

By all rights, if it wasn't for these stupid penalties, Lewis would be champion now. The Spa decision and Bourdais one last week were both a joke and have gifted Massa a total of seven points he didn't "earn" IMO. Add the two he was gifted today and you can legitimately argue that nine of his total points tally weren't earned at all. Despite this Lewis is still seven ahead going into the last race.

It's still quite possible for Massa to win it as he's always strong at Brazil and Hamilton could easily fall victim to a shunt somewhere and be put out of the race (Raikkonen in missile mode? ;) ) but, if he does, it'll be one of the most undeserved titles ever IMHO.

I think the pitpass front page says it all....

As Lewis Hamilton extends his World Championship lead to seven points, race fans invite tenders for someone who can inject some excitement into Formula One, someone who can bring back the 'wow factor' and have them sitting open-mouthed in wonder, someone who can justify them climbing out of their beds at ungodly hours. A great drive from the Englishman, but what a boring race.

So, the FIA want no overtaking (as we can see from all those penalties) and all the cars to be cheaper and identical copies of each other. The fans want overtaking (as we can see from all the bitching about those penalties) and all the cars to be technological showcases and different to each other.

Yep. The governing body sure has its finger on the pulse of what we all want to see....

JRS while I do like your posts and agree with them quite a lot of the time, you do seem to think anyone who says something against Ferrari is obviously pro Mclaren and anyone who is pro McLaren is against Ferrari... and stop bringing up that FIA acronym! :p

Boring race really... would have preferred it to be a little closer for the last race but hey Hamilton ruined it last year.

Press conference was also amusing :p

I don't think that at all. It does happen to be true in certain cases, but definitely not all of them.

... and stop bringing up that FIA acronym! :p

Sure....once sunama stops using it. I'll even stop using The Messiah™ and His Almighty Spanish Petulance™ to refer to Hamilton and Alonso (especially since Alonso has done a lot to mend his ways now that he's back at Renault) to reciprocate.

He'll always be Fred to me!
;)

Fairly dull race, nice win for hamilton, completely dominating the whole weekend and not making any stupid mistakes, unlike fuji :p

Roll on Brazil and (hopefully) Hamilton winning the WDC, I'd like to see him win the race as well tbh, just to rub it in :p

A boring race overall, nothing major happening besides Webbers low fuel antics and Heikkis puncture.

I wonder what will come of the Bourdais/Trulli incident. (Probably nothing)

its funny that itv f1 have not said anything about it going to the BBC since it was announced i wonder if they will say something on the last race,

hope martin moves back to the BBC

I will have to echo what others have already said. A good solid result for Hamilton but my god that was dull. I am glad I only caught the end rather than getting up early to watch the entire race.
