2008 Chinese GP - Race 17/18

You have to laugh really, racing incidents seem to be getting punished left right and centre lately yet artificially massaging the result is deemed to be OK.

Nice to see im not the only one thinking this has been convieniently glossed over by the Ferrari fans in this thread.

If by "artificially massaging the result" you're referring to the Ferrari swap....well, given that the FIA allowed McLaren to stage-manage the '07 Monaco race (and Ron admitted that they'd done that post-race) it would be a bit off to punish Ferrari for it now.

Sorry to disappoint knip, but this Ferrari fan didn't gloss over it. Hell, it's one of the three things I actually remember from this 'race' so how can I disregard it? But if you're going to punish Ferrari for it this time, then you've got to go back through an awful lot of times where McLaren and other teams have done exactly the same thing....

I agree, and as I said earlier in this thread id object to McClaren doing the same thing.

We cant retrospectively punish for last season now though, the stewards can for this season.

Then going forwards the rule should be "you race, you don't artificially manipulate the results", this tarnishes F1 almost as much as dubious penalties. In other sports what Raikonenen did is called match fixing (and the times McLaren have done it are not on either).

Taking this one out of the other thread so as to keep that one clean....

McLaren International Assistance?

I could have sworn that reversing in the pitlane and on the racetrack was against the rules....

Don't start mate, he only wanted the info :)

I know. But if sunama gets to bang his Ferrari International Assistance drum at every single race then I'm going to send him up every chance I get :)

And what about it? Hamilton did break a rule, and he's gotten bugger all for it so far. Mind, I suppose they could be about to use it to DQ him and take this win away....:p

Maybe I should have clarified my position, I object to any to any team that massages the result, McLaren, Ferrari or Force India.

It cheapens the idea that we are watching motor "racing."

Personally I don't have a problem with Kimi letting Massa through at this point in the championship.

Perhaps Kimi would actually like his teammate to win the world championship :p
Its not like Kimi is really going to miss the 2 points he has passed to Massa.

But yes, the race was quite boring. Good in ways, didn't have the energy to sit on the edge of my seat jumping up every now and then on the first few laps :p
