2008 Chinese GP - Race 17/18

Heikki had to move at Silverstone and Germany, you really have no grounds to complain, Felipe was faster today too in the final stint :) It's a team sport and team orders should be allowed anyway. Felipe eased off last year to let Kimi win in Brazil, its good practice.

To an extent its true. Had Mclaren exercised the same measures over their drivers last year they wouldve wrapped up the championship.

Problem is you had two drivers with equal points... thats hard to manage.

I just read this... thought it was brilliant :)

Briton said he is not upset he is not invited to play cards with a band of his competitors, including Alonso and BMW Sauber's Robert Kubica.

"I don't play poker," he said. "Some drivers get together, I'm here to race. "

Hamilton denied he has been drawn in to a round of mind games.

Thought it was ironic, since there is a subtle message in there somewhere perhaps?

"Some drivers believe in luck, I believe in skill" possibly?

No, but his responses are amusing.

Everyone digs themselves a hole at some point, but the Stig has employed a full on excavation team complete with JCBs and is headed to Australia.

dont get to read them as he in on ignore ;)

wouldnt it be funny if fia punished massa/raikonen for the switch.

If by "artificially massaging the result" you're referring to the Ferrari swap....well, given that the FIA allowed McLaren to stage-manage the '07 Monaco race (and Ron admitted that they'd done that post-race) it would be a bit off to punish Ferrari for it now.

Lets not forget FIA gifting Massa/Ferrari the Spa win and at least one extra point last weekend (which should have been Bordais')

I hate any kind of "stage-management" but at least its understandable when the faster car is allowed through more easily than strictly should be (all teams are guilty of it, and it will continue happening in the future and is very hard to penalise)

I have to say I was concerned with the possibility of Alonso allowing a Ferrari more easily through (of course this can still happen in Brazil) than the McLaren, because this would be fundamentally against every single idea of motorsport, but again it would be impossible to penalise (fortunately its less likely to be important in Brazil if this does happen)

The problem was two drivers who would do nothing to help each other LOL. Have to wonder about Heikki though, is he just not getting any support from the team?

So you think Lewis is like MS do you? And because I see them as who they are for themselves then that makes me digging a hole? I don't compare drivers to anyone, they make their own mark and I judge them on that. Why is that such a hard opinion for you to take?

I think you are quite sad if you have to compare Lewis to anyone, he is out there making his own name.

Try not to imagine things stig, he never expressed his opinion on that, he was referring to your posts in general.

How else are we to gauge how good something is without measuring it/comparing it against a yardstick?

"Some drivers believe in luck, I believe in skill" possibly?

I don't think it really bothers Lewis an awful lot that he's not well liked, at the end of the day he's there to win races, not a personality contest.

As for Heikki, the minute he overcooked his front brake in the warmup lap his race was done for - unless that was a fluke failure/bad part the pressure of trying to keep up is getting to him.

By beating his rivals in his day? It's totally pointless comparing drivers from past years IMO as the sport changes so much. Lewis never drove against MS so I don't see any reason to compare them. He can be compared to Massa, Kimi etc as that's who he has to beat when he races.

I just thought.

Both Ferraris will be on new engines come the last race. Hamilton will be on his 2nd race engine and will SURELY be dialled down a bit.
Problem is how much "down" can they afford to dial it without risking the wrath of Alonso/Kubica and co behind him?

Tbh. Even if the 2 Ferraris and Alonso/Kubica finish ahead of Hamilton, he doesnt need to worry about Heikki since he will almost certainly let him through (a la FM/KR today).
But I think if Hamilton finishes 6th place then Massa would win? Is that right?

(You know, if that happens.... I.. I dont know what I'd do, but it would be funneh as hell :p)

:p *pats stiggy*

Chill Winston. I wasn't commenting on that at all, but you know that. I agree Lewis is making his own name, he is definitely not like Schumacher. But then, I dont agree that hitting other drivers deliberately is the right way to win Championships.

Cav: I think LH's engine was dialled down for most of the 2nd half of that race to be honest :) It should be OK. Besides LH doesn't actually need to win Brazil?

So your comment was in reference to what? Just taking silly digs at me for no real reason? Michael never won a title by hitting anyone either :)
